If raising rates above 0% summons mass defaults, then those defaults are coming no matter what. It is comparable to stating that a building cannot survive a predicted 5 mph wind. The problem is not the wind, it is the building's structure, and wind or not, the collapse is inevitable.

On top of that, the criterion for setting the Fed. Funds Rate is not how long foreign economies can coast, our concern is U.S. dollar prices.  Period.
