I can’t help but laugh at all politicians when they use the term “fight”, “I’ll fight for this, I’ll fight for that, I’ll fight to win, etc., etc.. IF they fail to fight to WIN, why the hell get into a fight in the first place. Most of that is pure rhetoric anyway.
F.A. Hayek wrote about politicians who say they will “fight” for you. It means that the government is taking your money, and the politician is promising to go to the capital and get pork for his state or district.
The answer, of course, is for the government not to take the money in the first place.
XM Patriot channel has a clip of various candidates saying a quick line, pulled from stump speeches and interviews. In it you hear Lindsay Graham saying, "I'm ready to fight for you" in a Lindsay Graham voice and there certainly is no one laughing at Lindsay.
Oh wait, scratch that. Everybody is laughing at Linda and the thought of her fighting. Meow.

When they say “fight” they mean “talk”. A barrage of words instead of any tangible results. You’re right; most of it is pure rhetoric. But it seems to work for them. It seems they are able to fool most of the people most of the time.
