House Rules do not eliminate an outsider. The Speaker doesn't have to be a member of Congress.......

Or Allen West. As a former member of the House, he knows what goes on there.

Last night on his radio show, Hugh Hewitt was praising Kevin McCarthy, noting that he’s a protege of his predecessor Rep. Bill Thomas (R-Calif.) whom he called a “Reagan Republican.” He must have meant a Ronald Reagan, Jr. Republican.

Well HH is a GOPe guy so no surprise there. My understanding is that Tom Price (GA) is running and has been endorsed by Ryan and Hensarling, Scalise (LA) is running and I’m not sure who else. Tom Price is a really good guy. He would be great. But I’m sure they will end up with McCarthy.

Saw an interview of Kevin McCarthy on Fox this morning. First I’ve ever heard or seen of him. Hope it’s the last.

First impressions: He sounded scripted, rehearsed, and FWIW yet another BS artist. I forget the exact question given to him, but he was so quick to say how necessary compromise was... not quick to say how important value are. If he’s elected I can see him working deals with Obama just like Boehner did. I saw a career politician only looking to keep the gravy train coming.

I don’t see how we can trust the conservative credentials of anyone who votes for a Speaker who backs down. Logically, if they want to begin to regain our trust, the next Speakier should be one of the 25 who DIDN’T vote for Boehner last time.

I don’t disagree but it just does not work that way.

I don't disagree (re: about the new Speaker being one of the 25 who voted against Boehner) but it just does not work that way

That's why I don't trust any of them once they get to DC. The only reason the HOR has so many who stay on the constitutional conservative path of their campaigns is they have to get re-elected every two years.

House Rules do not eliminate an outsider.

There are 247 Republican members of congress that will eliminate an outsider. Get real.
