“In OUR religion, thats the rule.”
I understand.
In Christianity, there is no such thing. Nor in history.
As your son comes to know the Church better, reads encyclicals and papal homilies and speeches, right from the source and not the media, he will freak out with joy and likely never shut up about it to you...not out of conversion attempts, but just joyful delight.
It is like understanding a troubled marriage from a friend versus both spouses....only on the positive side...catholic magisterial understanding
When the pope spoke to congress, he was speaking to YOU. He knows congress does not want to listen. Pope speaks to you.
Abortion....do you tell the new mother outside the murder mill not to slaughter her child, or that we care and there are better choices for her and her child and we are here to help, that there are lasting detrimental effects....
Do you want to convert thr mother’s heart or do you want to feel pompous that you just insulted a murderer?
Thr pope is trying to encourage the sinner’s self respect and sense that God sees value in him, not rip him another hole to bleed from, while showong him that every life is so very important to God. THAT we ought not abort the old or perverted sinner or new life. Abortion, remember, is the word of satan used to replace child sacrifice. Popes should not use that word.
The question really is, "How can one reject Jesus?" Accepting Him, that's pretty straightforward from Scripture and Tradition. But what does it mean to reject Him.
The only reasonable answer is that if one *knows* in one's heart that Jesus is Lord yet *still* rejects Him anyway, then that person goes to Hell. The problem is one can't know what is in another's heart truly. Only God, and the person in question, can know that.
Only God and the person can know if he really "knew" Jesus was Lord and yet rejected Him anyway.
Only God, and the person can know how much one knows about Christianity in the first place.
Out of charity every Christian should tell everyone they meet that Jesus is Lord and has come to save us from damnation. So it's not like we can just sit back and not evangelize.
But if we (or anyone) does a lousy job of evangelizing then the lost people aren't held to the same standard as we are. To whom much is given much is required. To complain about this is the same as the laborers who complained their fellow laborers received equal pay for only a few hours of work.
It's God who is sovereign not us. He saves who He wills, any way He wills it. And if He wants to save Joe Fuji from Japan (or whereever) who never heard of His Son, or who never was given the true Gospel (because those who did try to evangelize him were really bad at it), He will do it however He wants, in any way that is through His Son. God isn't bound by how poorly someone is evangelized.

Do us all a favor and look up the man who started your sect of Chritianity, please.....I have the entire list......it's out there.
I am NOT saying you are NOT a Christian......I am saying that you are a BREAKAWAY sect.
“LOL!!! We are the ORIGINAL Christians!! the term “Christians” was first used in Antioch when St. Paul was there.
“
1. A great many of the current teachings of the Catholic denomination were not present when the term “Christian” was first used. Most were added more than a hundred years later. For this reason, I do not accept your claim.
2. God has no grandchildren. Only first generation children. As such, you are not an “original Christian” because of your denomination.
“Do us all a favor and look up the man who started your sect of Chritianity, please.....I have the entire list......it’s out there.”
His name is Jesus Christ. You should be able to locate his name on your list somewhere. If not, you can find it in both the Hebrew Scriptures and the New Testament.
“I am NOT saying you are NOT a Christian......I am saying that you are a BREAKAWAY sect. “
You would be quite wrong. One does not break away when they come to faith in Jesus Christ.
I wish you well.
{”Do you want to convert thr mothers heart or do you want to feel pompous that you just insulted a murderer?”}
We are all complicit in the murder of these babies. Citizens who have stood by, lawmakers, Supreme Court, church leaders.
After the revelation of the horrendous videos expanding on the activities of Planned Parenthood, a nationwide protest was called for. I joined with the protest at a PP site organized by a local Catholic church. I was proud to pray with my Catholic brothers and sisters. It was a protest but we prayed for the mothers, the unborn babies and the PP staff, even the guard PP hired to make sure there was no trespass.
What was astounding to me was that in our valley of about 350,000 residents about 50 people were present for this protest. Is our country so morally corrupt and hardened that even 2 hours on a Saturday morning is too great a sacrifice to make to respond to evil? The sad answer is, apparently, yes.
A spiritual leader had a great opportunity to address lawmakers who fund such activity, citizens who fail to be appalled by the activity and other spiritual leaders who are not mobilizing their congregations in an army of protest. And yet, he had other priorities. The lives of millions of unborn children were not high on his agenda.
Our nation as a whole is responsible for this wrong and that includes you and me. I feel ashamed and not pompous.
I also feel that the leaders we have and the fall of our country is probably deserved.
Catholics believe in the Trinity. 3 in 1 — a mystery. Jesus Christ IS God and God IS Jesus Christ. They work together with the aid of the Holy Spirit. As a wise priest once told me — don’t try to explain the Trinity, it’s a MYSTERY.
