Top GOP official seeks McConnell ouster as Senate leader (Villere- Vice Chair RNC)
WashTimes ^ | 9/27/2015 | Ralph Hallow

Posted on 09/27/2015 3:38:46 PM PDT by VinL

“McConnell needs to resign!!” Louisiana GOP Chairman Roger Villere wrote...

Villere isn’t just any Republican. He’s the longest-serving state GOP chairman in the nation...the vice chairman of the RNC... also serves on the RNC’s executive committee...

Aides for McConnell...did not return repeated calls and emails seeking comment. {Priebus} was unavailable Sunday.

{Boehner resigned] and ...an ideological irony there is that his probable replacement, Kevin McCarthy...is closer politically to Mr. Boehner than to the more ideologically passionate members ...

The same may hold true for Mr. McConnell...

Villere said...“Honestly, I haven really thought of a replacement,”

Villere did say what {offends rank and file about McConnell]:

— his failure to challenge executive overreach by President Obama or fight to repeal Obamacare and other unpopular measures.

“Mr. McConnell could have suspended consideration of confirmations for all presidential appointees, except for those who are essential to national security, until the president rescinded his unconstitutional executive action on amnesty.” M

“This would have been a constitutionally appropriate response to the overreach of the executive branch... “It would have transformed the political environment, greatly encouraged Republican donors and grass-roots activists, and positioned us to refuse to confirm replacements for any Supreme Court openings that might occur ”

[ALSO}, “Not trying to repeal Obamacare, not defunding Planned Parenthood, not trying to stop illegal immigration .....“That is what Republicans ran on and once they were elected they did not follow up with their promises.”

Villere... said he was moved to act after reading a story quoting Mr. McConnell as saying he wasn’t going to support a potential government shutdown in order to block federal funding for Planned Parenthood, a private organization that provides abortion services.

“If we lose the battle, we will never win the presidency again in my lifetime,”

I know Roger Villere. I served on the Louisiana GOP Central Committee with him 20 years ago. He’s pretty solid.

Do they have a Vacate the Chair procedure in the Senate like they do in the House? What is it called in the Senate?

They probably want to replace him before he is forced out. That way, they can claim that they made a change, and also replace him with another undocumented democrat.

If they end up with conservatives in both the House and Senate leadership, the chamber of cronies are not going to be happy. Plus there will be a lot of frowning from across the aisle and the media. One can dream.

The turtle has to go. Send Mitch McDumbo to the same rehab house as Bonehead, one for alcohol, the other for being a spinless turtle without a carapice.

I personally don’t completely fault the Senate for inability to block Obama, especially since he’s been using Executive orders for much of this, which really require the courts to strike down.

However, one reason we never get momentum against Obama is the fact we have McConnell up there on TV representing the GOP in the Senate. The guy is unbelievably annoying on TV and a turn off for most people personally. Add in the fact he can’t articulate conservatism for the nation and it compounds the problem.

Yeah, he’s got to go. We can’t have a guy like this selling our “brand” for another day longer.

It looks as if the Sheite is beginning to hit the fan, finally.

Make sure that the new majority leader vows that he/she is not a warlock or a witch.

No.

Senate Majority Leader is a straightforward choice by the Republican caucus, equivalent to Kevin McCarthy in the House.

The House Speaker is somewhat unique.

Not at all - I was just afraid it would be confusing and people would only read part of it ... thanks for posting

I didn't know about this man. He seems to get it though, ought to be heading the RNC.

“Not trying to repeal Obamacare, not defunding Planned Parenthood, not trying to stop illegal immigration,” he said. “That is what Republicans ran on and once they were elected they did not follow up with their promises.”

Also in detail talks about what could have been done to actually fight back on Amnesty. Makes it pretty clear there were options, whereas B & M both acted as if 'there's only so much we can do.'

I know you already read it ... but for those just reading the comments ... worth the read and not a long read ...

If the Republicans have any brains whatsoever....they will get rid of MItch McConnell tomorrow morning. The perfect replacement, Senator Jeff Sessions of Alabama. I’ll be watching what Marco Rubio does in the AM, as I hail from Florida!!! If Rubio sits on his hands....he will never get a vote from me. McConnell must go, right now!!!

That weak sister, McConnell, is right in bed with Obama & his Obamabots. All he had to do was to invoke the “Nuclear Option” in the Senate, and then the Pubbies could have sent a bill to kill the iran “nuclear weapon agreement” with a simple majority vote. Obama would have vetoed it, but....the Democrat vermin would have been on the record in support of the Obama “turncoat” position!!! McConnell is 100% in the back pocket of America Destroyer, POTUS, OBAMA!!! Broom him, Republicans!!!
