Russian Ambassador Sergey Andreev on Friday described the Soviet's 1939 invasion of Poland as an act of self-defense, not aggression.

That’s nothing. Go on Zero Hedge. They blame “the Zionists” for starting World War II. Really.

Andreev needs to be declared persona non grata by Warsaw.

If they’re going to dress that way, they shouldn’t be surprised if they get invaded.

So did Stalin, they agreed when they signed the Non-Aggression Pact. There is no way Hitler goes to war with Poland without it.

So did Stalin, they agreed when they signed the Non-Aggression Pact. There is no way Hitler goes to war with Poland without it.

Then let's blame the French. France and the UK were seriously trying to negotiate a treaty with Russia to protect everybody against Germany. But, there was a lot of dithering, reportedly on the French side, which made the Russians think that the French and English were hanging them out to dry and face the Germans on their own. So, when the Nonaggression Pact was offered to Russia by Germany, they jumped on it in a very short time.

We could blame the Poles a bit, too, I suppose, because soon after Russia was weakened by its civil war in the early 20's, the Poles had border action with the Russians to extend their territory. So, although Stalin was acquisitive, and was happy to partition Poland with Hitler, there may have been a smidgeon of payback involved, too.

The roots of history spread deep, and nobody has clean hands for long.

article makes it seem like Poland and Russia are not on very good terms at all.

Wonder what that’s all about?

Russia wanted war in the West, to weaken the armies of Britain, France and Germany, to make the entire continent easy pickings for them. They just didn’t count on France losing so quickly.
