I was having a discussion with a former soldier who had been in Iraq. He was appalled by the idea that western culture was superior. All cultures were equal. He didn’t have a problem with female circumcision and child rape. It’s just their culture, he explained. There’s nothing we can or should say about it.

He was a black Democrat. But I think that’s any Democrat. Even those older Democrats who don’t see life that way would never vote Republican. I know one of those too and if Hillary is the candidate he’ll vote for her, even though he prefers somebody, anybody, else.

Equivalent cultures is an impossibility. What if you were to say that Nazi Germany wanted to exist next door to Israel (..ahem!...). Nazi Germany's culture demands that all Jews be exterminated from the face of the earth. Israel's culture believes just the opposite. Co-existence is impossible. No middle ground in that scenario.

During the '80's, practically all we heard from liberals (with regard to foreign policy) is how terrible South Africa's policy of Apartheid was evil. Perhaps it was, all I know is that blacks came to South Africa in search of opportunity. Nevertheless, we were told how we had to boycott South Africa, ostracize South Africa into treating blacks better. Yet few people in power make any mention of the treatment of children, women, and non-Muslims in a host of Muslim countries. I would argue, that black were treated better in South Africa under apartheid than the aforementioned groups are treated under Islam.
