If that’s supposed to be a “clock”, how does one tell what time it is? What purpose does it serve?

He disassembled a store bought alarm clock and arranged the components, (still hooked up) in a pencil box..
If he had used a clock radio, he could have listened to Rush on it....LOL
A clock is exactly what it is - he took an alarm clock out of its case and put it in a box.
In other words, it was an obvious, deliberate hoax.
