The National Park Service announced Monday that the use of electronic cigarettes is now banned anywhere tobacco smoking is prohibited in the national parks.

Existing National Park Service policies regarding tobacco smoking were originally issued in 2003 and later revised in 2009, according to a National Park Service internal memo. The new policy was issued in an effort to "protect employees and park visitors from the health hazards and annoyances associated with exposure to environmental tobacco smoke, commonly known as secondhand smoke, which is a known human carcinogen," the memo stated.

The use of e-cigarettes will not be allowed in any government owned or leased vehicle including heavy equipment, watercraft or aircraft in the park. Vaping will also be prohibited in national park concession facilities and other buildings.

Can you smoke marijuana in National Parks? It seems it could be, since marijuana is the new tobacco!!

When these jerks quit burning off significant tracts of land with stupid forestry policy and SMOKING OUT ENTIRE STATES, then, and maybe then, the topic is open for discussion.

We've had weeks of secondhand smoke 24/7 this year, red to orange sun at noon, visibility 1/2 mile from forest fires. Ya think there might be something bad for you in all that crap?

Look, just because there is a rule against it doesn’t equate to tyranny.

Allow me to violate Godwin's Law:
Were the Nuremburg Laws any kind of tyranny? I mean, they were just rules, right? If the Jews didn't like the rules they could just go about their business I suppose.

Here's a Hint: Totalitarian Regimes makes rules because they want to control people. It's Tyranny. Government is supposed to exist to protect people from Coercion. When government BECOMES the coercion, it's tyranny.

It's not about cigarettes, or e-cigarettes, or national parks. It's about the role of government to decide what you can and cannot do on a daily basis.

And if you think "if I feel strongly, then I'll just ignore their rules" is a valid response, I just don't know what to say.

“And if you think “if I feel strongly, then I’ll just ignore their rules” is a valid response, I just don’t know what to say.”

What is going to happen if you light up where you are not supposed to (airline bathrooms notwithstanding)?

REAL tyranny is tobacco taxation, but nobody cares about that, for some reason.

When Americans are compliant, more regulations follow, where they are not - well that’s where you get to test whether it’s tyranny or not.

I’m a bit in disbelief comparing genocide to smoking, but you’re free to make that comparison, but don’t ask me to take you seriously.

What is it with the hyperbole with smokers? You willingly pay absurd taxes, but someone tells you not to smoke somewhere and you suddenly wake up?

Light up wherever you feel like it - see what happens.

A better response would be boycott this heavily-taxed product (ala the Boston Tea Party) in a coordinated manner to deprive the gov’t of revenue - but we all know that isn’t going to happen (and why).

Right. Trump’s long history of fighting for individual liberty... doesn’t exist.

Government can do anything to my body above the waist. Lung control to mind control is OK.

Try to touch me below my waist and now you’re messing with my primitive sex function. That’s a no, no.

Trump is going to restore every America's God-given right to smoke. You'll see.

You are clearly a stage 1 thinker that does a lot of logic twisting and turning in your own mind. You don’t even have the faintest understanding of Liberty vs Tyranny.

May I recommend that you study/read some Alexis de Tocqueville.

Thank you. It’s not easy being #1, but someone has to do it.
