Chatter about speaker’s ouster has House GOP on edge

(The Hill) – Growing chatter about a possible coup against Speaker John Boehner has set Capitol Hill on edge.

Talk that conservatives might use a government-funding showdown to overthrow the powerful Ohio Republican has triggered a flurry of behind-the-scenes jockeying among lawmakers eager to move up the leadership ladder.

And that has lawmakers wondering more than ever if Boehner’s days as Speaker are numbered.

“That’s what tells you there’s something afoot. You know there’s some drops of blood in the water, because all the sharks are starting to circle,” said one conservative lawmaker who backs Boehner’s ouster.

Conservatives have threatened to shut down the government on Oct. 1 if Congress doesn’t strip federal funding from Planned Parenthood. Boehner thinks a shutdown would be disastrous for the party in an election year, but he also knows conservatives have vowed to move against him if he teams up with Democrats to fund the government.

Publicly, Boehner is projecting confidence, repeatedly telling reporters in recent weeks he has “widespread support” from his GOP conference. But even behind closed doors, Boehner has had to contend with nagging questions about his political future.

Boehner’s mafia-like tactics are used to gain support for bills that ultimately enable Obama instead of stopping the unconstitutional behavior of this regime. American’s have been demanding that representatives stop Obama. Recall that it was Boehner who took impeachment off the table. Boehner’s lap dogs attempt to make a case for Boehner’s success with the claim that Boehner has passed more bills than any other Congress in history—mostly bills that support Obama’s agenda thus Liberal media is also supportive of Boehner. However, most Americans understand the principles of our constitutional founding, and thus understand that the success of Congress is NOT measured by how many bills Congress can pass… but rather by how many bills they can prevent and block—the slow percolation of legislation.(Click For More)

From the day he arrived, Boehner made it clear that out lobbyists wouldn’t get past his receptionists until we wrote out checks for the maximum amounts allowed and that if we wanted consideration for our legisaltive initiatives, those checks had better keep coming.

He demanded invitations to Realtor conventions at locations where he could play golf. Boehner cares more for golf than he does for the needs of his constituents. In 2009, his campaign fund spent $82,998 for golf outings for himself and his cronies.(Click For More)

A September 2010 New York Times story said Boehner was "Tightly Bound to Lobbyists" and "He maintains especially tight ties with a circle of lobbyists and former aides representing some of the nation’s biggest businesses, including Goldman Sachs, Google, Citigroup, R.J. In June 1995, Boehner distributed campaign contributions from tobacco industry lobbyists on the House floor as House members were weighing how to vote on tobacco subsidies. In a 1996 documentary by PBS called The People and the Power Game, Boehner said "They asked me to give out a half dozen checks quickly before we got to the end of the month and I complied. And I did it on the House floor, which I regret. I should not have done. In 2010, for instance, Boehner cried because he won an award from the anti-abortion group Americans United for Life. In exactly the same way he cried about not being able to see kids at school because he longs for them to achieve the American dream like he did, Boehner’s reaction to the award was purely narcissistic: He seemed to be crying about his own childhood and the pain he felt in his own youth, not for the constituency that gave him the award: “I have 11 brothers and sisters,” he blubbered, “I know it wasn’t convenient for my mom to have 12 of us, but I’m sure glad they’re all here.”(Read more Here)
