Thanks for the update, I agree.

It’s the “little people”—not a derogatory term—prayer warriors and other “helps” ministries that are doing the work of God.

The leaders are just that...leaders dressed in finery like the Pharisees of Biblical days.

Nero, deja vu all over again the pope and Obama and the dems leftists etc

Yes it is very sad, thee one who is supposed to represent Jesus here on earth and to whom Catholics say ALL people must be in subjection too, isn't doing his Christian duty.

This “Pope” will set back the Church 500 years.

Hopefully further back to the Crusades. We could use a revival.

This pope is more of a political leader than a spiritual one. I’m not Catholic and it isn’t my intention to offend the Catholics on this forum. However, many of the popes over the years have not been spiritual leaders. There have been some very good ones, but this new pope isn’t one of them.

I will also say my MIL often has the Catholic channel on and he has spoken out against ISIS, the persecution and murder of Christians in the ME and Africa and against abortion. I don’t see American media covering any of this. The Pope does not have a standing army to send to Syria. It is Obama who is taking down Western Civilization and will be more than happy to drag the Pope with him. The Pope lives with a fatwah handed down that he should be killed everyday. Christians of all stripes should not be letting others divide us. The enemy of Christians and Jews are loving the divide. Also the video from a distance of Francis talking to Castro— I have never seen the Pope look so angry and stern Francis wasn’t buying what Castro was selling and was telling him about it when I watched.

My goodness calm down...

And where would the poor go to be healed, educated, and fed once the buildings are sold?

Keep enough buildings to house those in need.

Sell a few billion dollars worth of art sitting in the basement of the Vatican to take care of them.

God will provide if the leaders repent and bear their cross as the Bible says.

Where would the orphans go? Out on the streets to become child sex slaves?

Would that be your plan? How histrionic.

See my previous statement.

If you sold every chalice Holy Mass could not be offered to the glory of God.

Yes, but communion could be done in remembrance of Jesus as he taught. I don't think there were any valuable "chalices" used in the first century. Not a problem.

We are so invested in the short term but Our Lord is forever. He is in charge and, in His time, all will come to know His Love and Glory.

True, true and true.

Keep the faith.

Yes, that was an issue some years ago, that is why there is a big collection at the end of the year for retired religious, this is done at every parish. For many years now, Sisters have paid into Social Security.

It may be because you aren’t Catholic that you have never seen a Pope as a spiritual leader, including this one. Attend Mass sometime (you are welcome at my church) and you will hear the Priest speak of the Popes spiritual outreach. It’s always there.

This “Pope” will set back the Church 500 years.

Set it back 2000 years and go with simple Christianity as was practiced until about the 3rd century when Catholicism started and "created" a line of popes out of whole cloth.

I read a similar comment, on another forum, recently. The poster said something like “I don’t want my Pope to be a politician”.

I cannot recall previous Popes being as political as this one, but, I don’t remember any Popes before the ‘80’s, so not sure.

NO offense intended, to Catholic FRiends, as well.

Yes he has. No I don’t have a link. Our Priest speaks of what the Pope is saying and doing every week. Western media doesn’t seem to bother reporting this.

Thanks, but I went to a Mass one time - it was the most boring thing I’ve ever attended. I’ll stick with my church - thank you. I don’t need to hear how spiritual some man is - I want to hear about the love and glory of Jesus. For the record, I didn’t say that all the popes weren’t spiritual leaders - I said some of them weren’t, and this pope seems more political in nature. You see - the church is used wrongly = it isn’t a building or a place of worship - it’s the body of Christ. You will discover this if you read the New Testament.

Perhaps you misread my statements for I am quite calm and not histrionic.

Go out and see the tremendous work Catholic Charities, local parishes and groups formed within our Catholic Churches do in regards to feeding, clothing and taking care of the poor. Listen to the Popes words not just when its a NYT’s story. We are taught as Catholics to provide service to those in need and it goes all the way up to the Pope. I love how non Catholics who aren't out there working in Catholic hospitals, outreach centers, etc tell us we don't care. My daughter, a conservative as well, was inspired by the church and meeting the Pope to go into medicine.
