They ‘d rather you get out and make room for lesser experience and culturally compliant personnel to make the military complete in Barry’s eyes.
HA!
Gotta promote the ladies in Admin over the Pilots of equal rank.
Ladies flying milk runs in transports over the Fighter Jocks...
Never mind how much more skill is required by Fighter Jocks.
It’s an old story. Twenty years ago, the promotion opportunity for CDRs going up for CAPT was 15-20%. The actual promotion rate for P-3 NFO CDRs to CAPT was 4%.
Wonder if that applies to general and flag officers?
Not quite. Although yearly needs can effect specific, aviation MOS's are planned out for several years, through potential squadron command. Problems arise when non-aviation billets are being groomed for aviators and CO's request aviators fill non-aviation billets. This pulls them out of their primary MOS and create holes in the 10-year plan. MOS credibility is then lost and their promotion potential flops, ruining their chance for squadron CO selection and eventual selection for O-6. This really messes with Manpower and the aviation monitors.
