The morning newscast I watched today (KHOU Houston/CBS affiliate) was trumpeting that Trump was now in 2nd place behind FioRINO.
I see the pattern the GOP-E is using.
First they pumped up the black candidate against Trump.
Then they put up the female candidate.
Now it’s time for the “hispanic” candidate.
Maybe they will use Jindal if they run out of options.
Their game is to assume Trump will say something ultra-offensive against these “special” groups, because they actually think he is like that.
After the GOPEs exhaust these four, then they will make a big manufactured stink that Trump has hurt the GOP’s “big tent” push by “beating up” on these poor minorities, and female candidates. Then they will get Bush to step in and be the “white knight” to go after Trump in the name of avenging those candidates and to not allow the GOP name to be destroyed by this “mad brute racist”.
It wont work, but it will be a dramatic last stand of the GOPEs for the cameras.

I clicked on the local CBS affiliate here and caught the tail end of bit pondering whether Trump was about to drop out of the race. I am not exaggerating.

And while everyone was touting Fiorina, I told you not to concern yourself because she was still #3 or 4 in most polls. If and when she got to be #2, Trump would crush her. She ain't getting to #2.

You can talk to some of the vets around here. We had all sorts of reasons for discounting polls in 08 and 12. Never again. By and large, the polls get it right in America. Yeah, they miss some overseas stuff (I think largely due to cultural differences in how they poll).
Fox will only report the CNN poll since it matches their narrative.

It was a CNN fabrication backed up by a single garbage poll.
Trump won the debate and expanded his lead. Fox and CNN can go to hell. They failed.

Yep Fox is only going with the CNN poll until their own lying Fox poll comes out in a few days. It will mirror the CNN poll they have their order in.
I hope to be wrong but I think the MSM pollsters for the most part have decided to take matters into their own hands, CNN was the big wink to the others, they will consider CNN poll as they prepare their own

I respectfully disagree with your take on polls largely getting it right...
I honestly believe that the polls are fabricated, the masses hear the results of the polls and they just take in whatever they generally say.
The fabricated polls then become reality
The supposed Fiorina surge was mostly hype, by a media desperate to try to end Trump.
Yes, she got a little bump from the debate, but expecting that to translate into numbers that would more than double was a pure fairy tale being spun by the media. Fiorina was polling 2-3% prior to the debate, it makes complete since that she would be polling 5-6% now.
