It’s amazing how no one asks the right questions.

Did Hillary or Bill or members of their staff short these stocks before her tweet, or did they buy them on the drop?

My first thought: To: expat_panama I wonder how short the Clinton Cabal was/is on the drug sector prior to yesterday. 13 posted on ‎9‎/‎22‎/‎2015‎ ‎5‎:‎22‎:‎03‎ ‎AM by mad_as_he$$ (Section 20.) [ Post Reply | Private Reply | To 1 | View Replies | Report Abuse]

...markets are a first class mess.

What?  So we need to redistribute all private over to the state and abolish markets?  Maybe the markets you participate in are a mess but the markets I go to are neat as a pin and are great places to shop and work.

anticipated volume of sales made it an unprofitable...   ...Upping the price as much as Turing did is outrageous,...   ...We are running shortages now

The word "outrageous" sounds like an opinion.  Let's work with what we know for fact.  We know that markets work when falling sales revenue which fails to support production can result in production cuts  --to the point where prices can then rise to cover costs.  If shortages exist at prices that are high enough to cover costs, then production can be increased to meet demand.

Many good people think this pricing system is not fair to the little guy and should be overseen by wise people appointed by the state.  They're good people but they're very mistaken as history shows that state control leaves the little guy even worse off.

I thought that Obamacare was supposed to solve this? Is she admitting that the socialist, heavy handed, iron fisted, top down control of things always fails?

Yet the sheep will still bleat and vote for her, just because she has their favored chromosones...

my small pharma portfolio took a hit

Yeah, it looks like the sector's down over a couple % this AM.

Then again, that whole sector's always been a bit on the jumpy side (like tech), and even after today's drop it's still up over 11% over a year ago compared to the broader more stodgy S&P500 which is down a tenth of a % since a year ago.

Thanks tho for the heads-up on the original article. imho it's a typical NYT lefty attack on the evil hedgers. Bogus. Here's 300 words of NYT article.

Turing’s price increase is not an isolated example. While most of the attention on pharmaceutical prices has been on new drugs for diseases like cancer, hepatitis C and high cholesterol, there is also growing concern about huge price increases on older drugs, some of them generic, that have long been mainstays of treatment.

Martin Shkreli is the founder and chief executive of Turing Pharmaceuticals, which raised the price of the drug Daraprim to $750 a tablet from $13.50. Credit Paul Taggart/Bloomberg, via Getty Images

Although some price increases have been caused by shortages, others have resulted from a business strategy of buying old neglected drugs and turning them into high-priced “specialty drugs.”

Cycloserine, a drug used to treat dangerous multidrug-resistant tuberculosis, was just increased in price to $10,800 for 30 pills from $500 after its acquisition by Rodelis Therapeutics. Scott Spencer, general manager of Rodelis, said the company needed to invest to make sure the supply of the drug remained reliable. He said the company provided the drug free to...

If she did then it would be yet another crime to add to a very long list that no one seems to want to act on.

I’m not one of those people. The bottom line is that this is all quite convoluted, at multiple levels.

The Fox Business headline was the markets recovering from the lows of the day....ok.
DOW finished -180 but that is great news: It was -250+!

It’s the end of the 4th quarter and the team’s performance stinks so what do we do?? Cheerlead, yaaaay!
