I have no doubt he hates America. But has he been trying to “remake” it “better” or “remake” it to punish (in his mind I mean)? What does he view as “better” if the former might be considered. What does Utopia look like to a radical liberal or communist? Do they believe that if everyone is at the same level of misery, then all will be happy because there is nobody to be jealous of?
