Merkel ‘expects Cameron to back EU army’ in exchange for renegotiation

Angela Merkel will expect David Cameron to drop his opposition to an EU army in exchange for supporting Britain’s renegotiation, the Telegraph has been told.

The German chancellor will ask Britain to stand aside as she promotes an ambitious blueprint to integrate continental Europe’s armed forces.

It comes as Jean-Claude Juncker, president of the European Commission, said Britain will get a deal if it gives the green light to a raft of powerful new EU institutions.

A Berlin source said agreeing not to “block” Merkel’s defense plans is a “favor” that she would seek from Mr Cameron as he looks for her support in the renegotiation.

“If you want favors, you have to give favors,” the source said. “If Cameron wants a ‘flexible Europe’, he must let other members integrate further. Yes—opt out, opt out, opt out—and then shut up.”

While there is no expectation or obligation for Britain to take part in steeper integration, the creation of an EU army could marginalize Britain within NATO and result in the United States downgrading the special relationship with Britain in favour of Paris and Berlin, experts warn. …

Why, so this army can rise up? The EU is too anti-US already.

the importance of this proposed military integration might or might not be to marginalize great britain but the more important results might be to marginalize the united states as the leading figure in NATO

They need to unite so they can collectively be defeated by the Muslim horde that they’ve invited in.

They’ve always had that goal. Even going back to the European Coal and Steel Community, the elites wanted to become a “third power” to rival the US more than the USSR.

That’s more of the “beneficial crisis” to aid the push for greater “integration”.

It would be an army of the EU elite, used to force all members in their grasp to stay in line. It would be the end of any notion of maintaining individual cultures. It will be populated by their invaders, desperate for jobs, and having no loyalty to anything European. It would force the poorer nations to take migrants that will replace them, providing slave labor to keep those areas forever subservient.

The sick thing is that even though Europeans continually vote to end this madness, their elected leaders make promises then sell them out, every time. It's no different from what's happening in the US.

What is unfolding, in our lifetimes, is the end of the greatest, most innovative, most successful civilizations the world has ever seen.

No, the invaders are not part of the currently-disparate armed forces and will not be. The EU looks outward, not inward.

Germany is not going to expel all of those hundreds of thousands of invaders they invited in. The best they can do is use them against the rest of Europe. It’s the same thing in the US. A lot of our volunteer military forces are minorities not fully assimilated to the US. One fear is they could be used against a population they aren’t entirely loyal to.

Fine, let Berlin and Paris form their own alliance.
We could save millions of dollars when we close our remaining bases in Germany. Let the Germans pay 100% of their own defence costs along with feeding their welfare state.

Then the US, GB, Canada and like minded countries can form our own alliance.
Poland might be interested, hopefully Finland would like in with us.
I’m no expert, but I am sure that a few EU countries would like to back out. Especially with the latest Islamic invasion going on.

An EU army under the control of Germany?

I agree they have a purpose in mind for them. That may be it, but I don’t see that furthering cooperation among member states. For my part, I’m thinking of Goering’s old Nuremberg prison interview, where he says “tell the people they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists” et al.

The EU’s foreign policy in general has always been outward-looking either way.

You think that Britain would still be for an alliance after what Obama did? Never mind Poland, whose foreign minister called their alliance with the US “worthless” back in June and promoted stronger ties with Germany instead.

I think our bases are still operational in Germany for our benefit, not Germany’s.

I had forgotten about the damage Hussein has done.
A new president Cruz or Trump could put some good salve on those hurts.

It would definitely have to be someone bold and decisive.
Jebush or some other GOPE type would never be able to pull it off.

It’s amazing to me how things are lining up. I will be watching this coming week very closely for the final confirmation.

The cold war is over.
Germany has rebuilt it’s economy and is building some nice armament.
We could probably make better agreements with some other strategically placed country.
Germany does not have our best interests in mind.

I just think if they want to go their own way, so be it.

Do we want American troops involved in Germany when their muslim uprising occurs?
I would rather have our troops available for the uprising of our own muzzies.

Not one more drop of American blood for countries that either take us for granted or knife us in the back.
Anti Americanism is second only to soccer as the favourite European sport.

The muslim invasion of Europe has changed everything.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see most of Europe involved in civil war.
There is no way the European nations can continue taking every muslim that wants in and retain their national identity.
Political correctness will be the death of Europe as we know it.

They are going to be like the generals of WW1; fighting modern weapons with outdated tactics.
It ain’t gonna be fun to watch.
