Trump's advice to teens: Follow your heart, do what you love (Urbandale, Iowa)

Donald Trump's advice for high school students in suburban Des Moines, Iowa, is uncharacteristically wholesome: Avoid alcohol and drugs as well as cigarettes.

The billionaire businessman and Republican presidential candidate is also encouraging the teens to follow their hearts and do something they love, even if it means making less money.

"You represent so much. You represent the future. You represent something very important," he said.

Trump offered his views Saturday night in the parking lot of Urbandale High School as he addressed a group of students dressed in sparkly mini dresses and suspenders and bowties ahead of their fall homecoming dance. A social media campaign brought him to the celebration and hundreds of students, parents and others turned out to hear him.

"If you can stay away from the alcohol and stay away from the drugs, it's a big, big barrier that you won't have to work out. And it's so important," he said.

When I first heard the following, I was disturbed, but upon further examination, I noticed that the questioner asked if he would "consider" doing so. One can consider anything yet then conclude that it is too dangerous to actually implement.
In a question-and-answer session, Trump was asked by a student whether he would consider appointing Muslim-Americans to his Cabinet if elected. "Absolutely," he said, "no problem with that."

Considering and doing are different things.

The often overlooked words that are vitally important.

LESS MONEY

Too often these days young people follow their heart and do not make enough money to be independent and end up still living with mom and dad or constantly asking mom and dad for money to make ends meet.

First things first kids. First find a way to make a living then pursue your dreams.

Trump is smart. I always tell my wife I will “consider” her suggestions, even if I have no intention of ever doing them. Makes for a less stressful marriage.

Why uncharacteristically?

There is abolutely nothing wrong with a POTUS (Trump) appointing a Muslim, or for that matter, anyone of any faith or religion, as long as they are properly vetted, 100% loyal Americans, unlike our present POTUS, Muslim, America Hating, Barack Hussein Obama, or any of his Democrat Party vermin.

Obama never has been and never will be a Christian or loyal American. Obama is not one of us, his heart, soul and loyalty rest frimly in the arms of his most beloved “Muslim Britherhood Bethren!!!

I'm SHOCKED that this appearance isn't being featured on the AM news-talk shows! (not)

This is wonderful. Every day, Trump's strong moral compass and way with everyday people shines even more. What a fantastic, hopeful message to extend to those teens.

His advice to youth must work, considering the kind of children he raised.

I was shocked when a young auto repair store manager announced he was "leaving for the day". I happened to ask why, and he said he was a cook in a restaurant nearby. It turns out, he works a ninety-hour week. Asked why, he said "to buy a truck—which I did."

No wonder he's so skinny!

That WAS the dream of WWII veterans for their children.

Not certain your advice still holds, without considerable financial support from parents and grandparents.

Trump, with all his riches and glory, is a good man...he gets my vote!!! Why? Because out of all the POTUS candidates, Democrat & Republican...he was “The Only One” that cared enough to show up and spend time with non-voting kids, who really are the coming future of our nation.

This was done even in the bustle of Trumps busy campaign schedule. He made a speech earlier in the day in Iowa and, he had to tape three Sunday News show interviews, a brutal schedule to maintain!!! Thanks Mr. Trump, you were the only one candidate that cared enough to make this a “once in a lifetime event” for these budding, future & great Americans!!! BRAVO!!!

Why uncharacteristically? Trump doesn't smoke or drink or use drugs? It is certainly within Trump's character.

Lessee, ah, . . .. NO. Ok, I considered it.

These are answers anyone running will have to give, including, yes, Ted Cruz. Don't anyone kid yourself. You cannot, in this day and age, say, "Well, you know, while the Constitution prohibits a religious test to hold an office, I'm going to exclude x." Will not happen.

So for all the anti-Trumpstrs out there who think they have a "gotcha," it's anothingburger.

Trump's advice to teens: Follow your heart, do what you love

And since Trump loves muslims, this means do muslims.

Not certain your advice still holds, without considerable financial support from parents and grandparents.

There are plenty of jobs out there which a young person can get without breaking the bank or borrowing heavily.

Professional welders make a good buck. You can get certified in two years or less from a trade school or community college.

It is hard work and certainly is not glamourous but it is honorable and more than pays the bills.

Once the bills are paid you will still have money left over to pay for art school or whatever your dream may be. .

A dream deferred is not a dream abandoned.

And by the way I have seen some welders work that rose to the level of art. (at least in my mind)
