One doesn’t need to be an Einstein to have heart and often Downs sufferers have that in spades.

I know quite a few people with Downs.
Some are great, some are not. Many have challenges. Just like other people. I will say, if a kid with downs starts walking down the hall, and this gal is coming the other way, I will walk away from her.
Hey! As I used to be told on this site all the time, whenever I suggested that folks with tattoos and piercings were suspect, in my book, you can’t judge a book by its cover. Certainly you can. I’m with you on this one; definitely a taco short of a platter.
I’m actually more appalled by the number of people clamoring for her statements to be removed than her statement itself, which is disgusting and worthy of revulsion.
Offensive speech needs to be protected. There is no need for protection on non-offensive speech.

I trained at a coffee shop which employs a young man with Downs syndrome. His tasks are to clean and maintain the floor, the kitchen and the machines. All the employees are cross trained to maintain the machines. The young mad does all the training. EVERY employee is trained by him and only approved when they meet his standards. Why? He is patient, consistent, and absolutely will not cut any corners or skip any steps. He is proud of his work, happy in what he does, cheerful towards others and very well liked. He is a success. And this skank would have him murdered.
The oxymoron of “compassion” done the egotistical way. It is a million light years away from the real thing.

Yes there are silver linings in many of these lives that have occurred under cloudy circumstances.
I knew a Downs sufferer, a daughter of a family friend. She would clearly not be an Einstein — she called me “Dago” — but she was one of the most cheerful people I had met. She’d repeat grace at meals... over and over while she ate. It seemed to me that it’s more, not less, likely than normal that Downs sufferers comprehend God.
This demented person probably really means it but also hopes to get media attention.
She’d make a great Nazi concentration camp guard.
