The Arctic mosquito, a larger, furrier version of the ubiquitous pests, are getting a longer breeding season as Arctic ponds warmed earlier in the year, researchers from Dartmouth have found.
As a result, the Arctic mosquito, or Aedes nigripes, were in the air bothering humans and wildlife alike earlier in the season, according to a new study published in the Proceedings of the Royal Society B: Biological Sciences.
"They absolutely will bite people," lead author Lauren Culler told ABC News today. "Theyre active at any time of day. If youre in the Arctic in the middle of mosquito season, there are hundreds of mosquitoes [that want] a blood meal."

"Climate change will touch the pillars of our health, food, water and shelter," Dr. Maria Neira, WHO's then-director of public health and environment, told ABC News in 2011. "In Asia, there are more people at risk of dengue fever due to global warming. In Mount Kenya, mosquitoes are being found at higher and higher elevations."

Global Warming is getting serious!
lol. I’ve never seen such mass nonsensical hysteria in my life. Trump pretty much dismissed that gal when she asked him about global warming, or cooling, or whatever it is these days :)
In Before the That's Racist Kid
Not only that, but what about the never before heard of strains of bacteria that have been covered with ice and are starting to show up now that the glass-eee-ers are all melting? I’m skerred now. Hey assclowns. It’s nature doing what she does. Adapt or die. Whatever happened to the old saying, “Change is inevitable.”?
When folks bring up liberalism being a “mental disorder”, they could be more specific.
It appears to be bi-polar disease. Oscillating from delusional mania to suicidal-paranoid-depression.
The suicidal in them affects all, with societal-ending debt, head loppings, war, etc.
The “progressive” policy: When your lies don’t work... LIE HARDER!!! LIE LOUDER!!!
I read an article a few years ago that tried to scare people into doing something about globull warming by stating that poison ivy would grow quicker with more CO2.
I guess the vast migration of bats to the Arctic will soon take place.
Those are from Wisconsin!
I don’t know the cause, but I’ve been working outside for 40+ years and I’ve been seeing more and more poison ivy in the last 5-6 years than ever before.
Alaska has been known for its mosquitoes for years. What’s so shocking that some a further north?
Lol. It’s because the EPA has taken all the good stuff out of weed-killer and made it less effective. Just like it did with dish washer detergent...
My wife and I traveled to Delani National Park in the early 80’s when we were younger and more adventurous.
We took the “hell” bus ride to Wonder Lake (site of that famous Ansel Adams photo). Of course, by the time we got there Denali was clouded over. We got off the bus in the hope of getting a couple of photos and to decompress our spines, which had been hammered by the corduroy road and the school bus shocks.
OMG! Those “f’ing” Arctic mosquito were HUGE and they didn’t even try to sneak up on you It was like being attached by a swarm of wasps (it actually hurt, at lot, to be bitten). Within 45 seconds we were banging on the door to get back on the “hell” bus because it was preferable to being mauled to death by flying pit bulls.
It’s funny now...
Since it is on Obama’s watch, it must be his fault.
That’s what I tell everyone.
