they succeed, theyll get smoked in the general, as most of Trumps hardcore base (probably 20% of GOP electorate) will stay home. I know I will. It's beginning to look like the Trump candidacy may elect the Dem candidate whether or not he gets the nomination. If he doesn't get the nomination, his supporters will stay home. If he does, the supporters of all of the candidates he has insulted will stay home...

Spare me. To eqate media treatment with candidate attacks is delusional.
All candidates attack one another. If it were about attacks from other candidates no Trump supporter would care. And by the way he's always attacked first.
In fact some candidates hold a press conferences (Graham, Perry, Jindal) to just rail some of the nastiest attacks on Trump (saying things they've never have the balls to say about Obama).
I'm talking about the daily drum beat of columns, threats and name calling from almost every single member of the GOPe media from FOX and WSJ to NRO and Weekly Standard among others. Every day. Calling supporters racists, vulgarian, low information idiots, etc.
Give me some examples of where Trump has attacked someone so bad and unwarranted that it deserves supporters to sit home? You can't and it's just an excuse because you hate Trump.
