O’Toole said Whitlatch’s response dissuaded her from considering Whitlatch for a lengthy suspension, disciplinary transfer to a unit that doesn’t interact with the public and removal from the sergeant’s promotional registry.
Whitlatch’s actions previously sparked strong condemnation from the community, including a February march of protesters carrying golf clubs as canes.
Ron Smith, president of the Seattle Police Officers’ Guild, issued a statement Tuesday, saying, “I am disappointed that Chief O’Toole caved into the enormous political pressure surrounding this case.”
Smith said the guild now will take up whether to file an appeal.

2. As usual, these cases only get attention when here's a racial angle. This and worse happens every day.

Not sure who to root for here. On one hand we have officer friendly arresting a man for “disrespect of cop” and on the other we have the black supremacists demanding a scalp. No good guys here as far as I can tell.
There was zero reason for him to be stopped, let alone arrested. I side with him on this one. She needs to be far away from policing.
She lied and the video explained it all. King County Sheriff just fired two deputies for the same thing. They claimed that a black bus driver cussed them out and was out of control, but the bus driver had his own body cam and it showed just the opposite.
In fancy Rice Military neighborhood in Houston there was an angry black man who would walk his pitbull while swinging a large club. You know, just to intimidate the white people.
I have seen yoots using golf clubs to threaten and intimidate others.

Sure, but threatening people with a golf club is a crime. Carrying a golf club is not.
Police, of all people, ought to know the difference.
Agree. Another obnoxious cop out of control. There have been other similar cases where the person being stopped were killed by cops for simply walking. One not far away was an American Indian whittling carvings while walking was shot dead. Cops need to show more common sense and restraint.
If I have my 7 Iron in my hands, run. It’s never been out of the bag or struck a golf ball.......Come to think of it. I have no need for odd numbered Irons anyway.
Using modern policing techniques, shouldn’t she just have shot him multiple times?
