That would be a good name for a movie about Dan Rather. “Half Truth”
“Rather himself turned up at the event to praise the film’s accuracy and its (very sympathetic) portrayal of him.”
LOL bwhahahahaha
Ping!
What’s the frequency Kenny.
Then it must be a documentary.....................
Nobody will watch this thing but it will be up for some kind of academy award. Mark my words.
Thanks o Buckhead, we know the truth.
I cannot fathom why Redford/Rather/CBS would want this embarrassing farce to be rehashed. Rather swallowed a fabricated story hook line and sinker because he wanted so badly to believe it, but it was a pack of lies from start to finish. He was punished - appropriately - with the loss of his career.
The bad thing about this movie is - Five or Ten years from now it will be the ONLY source document for any future efforts to define what happened.
It will become an iconic production - look at its male lead - that all good liberals will quote when dealing with anything dealing with Bush ‘43. It will become as pervasive and as long lasting as the rumor started in the late 1980s that the CIA had provide crack cocaine to LA to hook the black population on hard drugs.
Fake, but inaccurate...
Choke, gasp, spit coffee out my nose! If that statement isn't proof of looneytoons, I don't know what is!
This 'documentary' belongs with all of the other media efforts to white-wash history; The innocent Rosenbergs, the loyal American Statesman Alger Hiss, just to name a couple.
Ah memories:
“Buckhead vs. Dan Rather: Internet David Slays Media (Sept 26, 2004) Goliath: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1227210/posts
And of course, famous (and infamous) Buckhead post #47: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1210662/posts?page=47#47
Buckhead continues to rock!! Hey, Buckhead, if they had been telling the real truth and had you in the movie, who would you have wanted to play you?
How many people think “Inherit the Wind” is an accurate picture of the Scopes monkey trial? I’d say a lot until I remember that most people haven’t heard of either.
Oh well. Some how I don't think she really read up on Mary "Hit Piece" Mapes.
If Blanchett had an honest bone in her body, she would not have accepted a role that portrays that Mapes in a positive light.
I'm removing her from my "positives" list in deciding on spending my entertainment dollars.
Did anyone else see this silly movie?
or care to?
Lets see;
NO action flick.
No rollercoaster ride from opening to ending.
NO Superheroes.
NO fantasy or si-fi.
NO CGIs.
Who would go to see this? It will be on HBO in a few months, maybe sooner, and play for years.
