THE QUIET LIFE OF COLUMBA BUSH
Miami Herald, The (FL) - January 19, 1989

EXCERPT

During a campaign picnic in Indio, Calif., Columba spotted a group of Mexican-Americans demonstrating for Dukakis. Disregarding political differences, Columba invited the pickets to join her for lunch. “They’re fellow Mexicans,” she reasoned.

They refused. Columba still doesn’t understand why.

But, on many of these occasions there were monumental struggles with jittery nerves and the English language. Last August Bush referred to his grandchildren in a conversation with the president as “Jebby’s kids from Florida, the little brown ones.”

“I was trembling the next day,” says Columba. But her fear, she says, was that her children would be hurt by the “hype” over their grandfather’s comment. As for the remark itself, Columba took it as a sign of affection. In Latin culture, she points out, loved ones are many times referred to with words some North Americans may consider odd — negro, gordo (fat), viejo (old).

Columba defended the comment, lashing out at the “misinterpretation” of her father-in-law by the public. The controversy taught her a difficult lesson in American politics, but it did not bother her, she says, because it was expressed with a grandfather’s love.

“Brown,” she said at the time, “is a beautiful color.”

“My father-in-law is so sensitive. Sometimes I think he displays too much love for my children,” says Columba.

This same devotion to Bush led her to become a U.S. citizen months before the election. She became a citizen, she says, to vote for Bush.

George P.’s mom, boosting Bush, balletHide
Washington Times, The (DC) (Published as THE WASHINGTON TIMES) - OCTOBER 9, 1992

EXCERPT

A native of Guanajuato, Mexico, she met Jeb while they were both in high school and Jeb was visiting Mexico on a cultural exchange program from Phillips Academy, a private boys school in Massachusetts. They fell in love, and after Jeb returned to the United States they remained pen pals. He asked her to marry him during a Christmas visit in 1973.

She says the story of their love affair is “very romantic” and that both his parents and her mother thought, “If you keep a relationship up for three years, it must be something very special.”

The transition, of course, was difficult. When she and Jeb married in 1974 - he was 21, she was 20 - she spoke no English.

“He was so nice,” she says. “I was sure it would work out.

“The thing that is wonderful about love,” she says in her warm vowels, “is that love doesn’t know about politics or race or anything.”

She remains loyal to her native country, although she became an American citizen in 1988. The family travels there twice a year, and she speaks Spanish with Jeb in their home. (”He speaks better than I do!” she reports. But the children are so-so.)

Let's take a quick trip down memory lane: At the (gag) La Raza conference in Cali (predated 2014 midterms)--- amnesty pimp Cong Luis Gutierrez (Dim-Ill) vengefully threatened Republicans---intimating hate-filled latinos would make sure they never win another presidency.

(waiting for hysterical laugher to die down)

La Raza President, and chief America hater, Janet Murguia, told La Razans it sickened her to hear Americans chanting "USA." She accused Murietta, Cali protesters of having "cloaked their hatred in patriotism" by shouting "'USA! USA!' again and again."

"It made me angry," she said. "In fact, I was outraged."

Murguia demanded amnesty and said the road to the White House for Republicans goes through the Latino community and La Raza. She also said Republicans who want to rescind the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program will not get Hispanic votes.

(waiting for hysterical laughter to die down)

====================================================

Going into 2014 midterms, taking cues from their Central American handlers, organized latino pressure groups were heaping scorn upon those opposed to amnesty---assorted latino pressure groups threatened Republicans with extinction, they rallied around Democrats---saying "the latino vote was going to destroy Republicans."

REALITY CHECK--AMNESTY-SUCKING DEMOCRATS DROWNED IN A SEA OF RED---2014 MIDTERM results evidenced not a single state, local or political entity claiming victory w/ latino votes.

Undecided races at time of publication also went Republican.

2014 was a tsunami that submerged AMNESTY-SUCKING DEMOCRATS in waves of defeat. Democrats who ran on amnesty were soundly defeated.

Fox's Britt Hume said the latino vote was not even a factor. Republicans won historic one-for-the-books elections---from sea to shining sea.
