HOUSTON Two students have died and several others were injured when a Houston Independent School District bus fell off the 610 South Loop on Tuesday morning.
The Houston Fire Department confirmed the student's death to KHOU 11 News.
Houston TranStar reports the crash occurred at Telephone Road around 7 a.m.
Investigators with the Houston Police Department said a late-model Buick LeSabre on the left-hand side of the bus thought that a car was going to drift into their lane. The Buick then shift over into the school bus to avoid the other vehicle.
At that time, the school bus driver tried to avoid the Buick and over-correct and ended up falling off the overpass and onto the frontage road below.
Witnesses tell KHOU 11 News the bus nose-dived and then fell onto its side along the freeway embankment.

I knew self-driving cars were a bad idea.
But seriously, what an awful thing!
You beat me to it by one minute!
Saw that, wish it were a better story though.
Unfortunately, that's all too common in Houston. People drive like they are on a NASCAR track, always looking for that extra car length.

But they will take a 1/4 car length if they can.
Who were the drivers of the Buick that hit the bus and the oncoming car that forced the Buick into the side of the bus?
How much you wanna bet that at least one of them...
Poor comment there, Haiku Guy. That one needs an apology.
Prayers up for everyone involved in this tragic accident.
Houston traffic bad
A fast sea of ignorance
I dropped my latte!
Its Nascar with constant texting.
I see them looking into their laps and honk at them.
RIP.
I agree with you 100%. That’s a very popular car with the illegals. That and geezers.
Prayers up.
But why is this “report” written in Ebonics?
Breathless data entry by an intern who wanted to break the story so they can generate a few more revenue clicks on the website would be my guess.
That and the word Le Sabre probably auto-corrected to Light Saber which then caused them to lose their focus when trying to spell it out phonetically.
:)
