Cruz will get my primary vote. Trump is very problematic and will not perform his four years as a conservative. However, I don’t want a Jeb and none of the others have the moxie Trump can display to win and then force a sea change.

Its almost a self-fulfilling action. Trumps getting the attention because he’s loud and brash.

Which gets him more attention. Like the Kardashians who are famous for being famous.

Trumps ties to the left are too deep for me to buy that this isn’t planned. Who else could call up the President of Fox or NBC?

He and Limbaugh talk and you can tell from how they both spent their entire shows giving a similar take

Has Trump even mentioned the possibility of eliminating any of those agencies, or is this just wishful thinking? I would be pleasantly surprised if any president eliminated even one of them.

It is presidential election season. You ain't seen nothin' yet. The pref-pushers will show up in droves. They browbeat and cajole and curse at any poster who disparages their selectee, and they post their lengthy diatribes in thread after thread.

The infiltration has only just begun. It will get a lot worse in the coming months.

Before there was a Defense Department there were two co-equal departments; the Department of War and the Department of the Navy.

Do you propose going back to those two, or are you proposing that the Defense Department be renamed the War Department, and the Navy kept under it?

You are correct for the normal primary play-out. This time I think we will see about eight drop in ten weeks starting at the iowa caucus.

Thank you soo much for this link!

Most Freepers realize that it’s always a matter of pretty simple math, after we winnow down to just three relevant candidates in a primary battle. That always the hardest time of a primary battle.

The GOP, when we get down to 3 or 4 candidates, for their part, are probably going to either try desperately to rehabilitate Jeb, and push Columbo out there to attract the illegals, and the fascist wing of the Hispanic vote, and/or ........

The GOP is going to watch for the conservatives to food fight and then run Kasich up the kazoo, and dump the pandering jackass Jeb, and/or .......

The GOP, if desperate to stop Trump, is going to pool resources with Wall Street and the Democrats to try and crush Trump outright, and elect Hillary. In a pinch, this outcome keeps Wall Street happy, and after all they are our keepers because they prop up the political powers.

The GOP is having nothing to do with Cruz either. And, he will be much easier to crush and dispatch with pooled resources than Trump. He’s smart, but he is not the Napoleonic leader that Trump is, or able to pull a damn thing off in a general election that looks like a movement. Not in this era. He is not a movement.

Possibly Trump is unbeatable, but the rest of our field promises us trouble in the General. There are no movement candidates unless we count Jeb and his pandering Hispanic numbers. It could be Jeb vs Hillary in the general election contest. Give or take a “Kasich vs a Sanders”, Biden or Warren, or Kerry.

We decide. The GOP are all facilitating a splinter between us, or will be soon, when the field begins to narrow and the desperate will threaten Trump.

He certainly is...he's the clear choice.

The War Department came into being in 1789. It was the United States Cabinet department originally responsible for the operation and maintenance of the United States Army. It also bore responsibility for naval affairs until the establishment of the Navy Department in 1798.

September 18, 1947 the three separate departments, (Army, Air Force, Navy) joined together as the National Military Establishment (NME,) Which was renamed the United States Department of Defense in 1949.

Personally, I just like the sound, and innate meaning described in "The Department of War,". All military branches would be under it's cabinet level Secretary. The existing Departments of Army, Air Force, and Navy could be simply referred to by their branch, as in "War Department - Army Branch." The civilian in charge would be a War Department Undersecretary of their branch.

Years ago there was some talk of renaming the State Department as The Department of Peace. The thought process was to able to ask enemies which they'd rather have resolving our conflict with them.

Listened to Mark’s show of 14 September. It was one of his best ever.

I concur.
