This whole mess is also abetted by Police Unions. Now we have people that “belong” to UAW-style unions who carry deadly weapons! And virtually every time a cop violates the laws he’s sworn to uphold, he had a union-provided lawyer and a flack to protect him from prosecution.

Rank and File cops don’t like this kind of crap any more than anyone else. The Federal Stooges coopt all of the ‘clout babies’ in local departments. They get to impress the chicks at the bar with all kinds of titles and ‘elite’ units.
Everyday cops on the beat (the ones that you see; all these fed types are what we call ‘secret-squirrel’) NEED a bargaining unit to protect benefits that were promised when we came on the job. They NEED a advocate when the City Administrator decides to throw them under the bus.
The Connected Types, i.e., the ones that are willing or chosen to go along with the Federales Model don’t need it because they will always be taken care of on the back end.
Meanwhile, all abuses, all complaints, unfortunately all Libertarian griping about ‘the police’, fall on the average beat cop, who doesn’t benefit at all from this game being played by the politicians and their stooges who happen to be high-ranking police.
