Iran has a 90% tax on imported cars. Unless you’re wealthy, you’re stuck with substandard junk.
90%? It seemed much larger than that, maybe 300% when I was there. The car had to be in country for I think five years to get to the 90%.
In 1974 my room mate sold his 1967 Olds Cutlas Convertible for over $5000, It was ragged out from so many trips in the snow to Dizin for the skiing trips, not to mention the city traffic.
BTW, it is no surprise that so many people are killed on their highways, especially at night.
