I discovered this long ago and it has made my life a lot easier. When I deal with the public I lower my expectations significantly and am as patient as I can be. I realize that not everyone is a rocket scientist.

That kind of illiteracy/innumeracy is what’s killing us. Government schools are very effective. While I got a 12/12 on the test, your ‘failure’ really isn’t one. You know the difference.

I find it most interesting that college grads had the most problems with the questions regarding elevation and water boiling and the magnifying glass—both so empirically evident.
