Donald Trump just eviscerated a new [as in,"latest"] GOP rival

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is now tearing into one of the rivals he long declined to criticize: retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson.

In a CNN interview on Thursday, the real-estate magnate attacked Carson's religiosity, persona, qualifications for the presidency, views on abortion — and even his medical record.

"He was a doctor, perhaps an OK doctor, by the way. You should check that out too. We're not talking about a great [doctor]. He was an OK doctor," Trump said.

As a doctor, Carson drew national attention at John Hopkins "by conducting a succession of operations that had never been performed successfully," according to The New York Times, "most famously planning and managing the first separation of conjoined twins connected through major blood vessels in the brain."

Trump said he was criticizing Carson because the retired brain surgeon took a shot at him the day before. CNN reported that Carson was asked at an event how he was different from Trump, and he responded by comparing their faith in God.

"Probably the biggest thing — I've realized where my success has come from and I don't in anyway deny my faith in God," replied Carson, a member of the Seventh-day Adventist church. "By humility and the fear of the Lord are riches and honor and life, and that's a very big part of who I am. I don't get that impression with him."

Some political observers have suggested that Trump could struggle to win over evangelical voters because of his casual public approach to his own religion. For example, Trump has said he doesn't seek forgiveness from God and referred to Holy Communion as eating "my little cracker" and drinking "my little wine."

I disagree about “okay doctor.” Ben Carson is brilliant. DT needs to pick a different point to stick on.

Paul White Ministeries

August 30, 2015: Trump Hosts Televangelists Who Fleece Their Flocks

...”White, who hosts a TV show called Paula White Today on The Word Network and pastors New Destiny Christian Center in Apopka, Florida… took the helm at that church after its former shepherd died of a heroin and cocaine overdose.

Trump and White have been friends for years, which makes sense because they have a lot in common. In addition to having their own popular TV shows, they’re on their third marriage—Trump’s to former model Melania Trump, and White’s to the keyboardist for Journey.

Trump has been a guest on her programming numerous times, and they seem to be big fans of each other. He’s called her “a beautiful person, both inside and out,” and recommended that viewers read her book You’re All That: Understanding God’s Design For Your Life so they would “be ready for great success.” White has compared him to “a diamond that reveals a new facet each time it is turned in the light,” ..

White, like Trump, is also a big fan of cash. She’s typically characterized as a proponent of the prosperity gospel—a theologically suspect approach to Christianity whereby pastors (often before huge congregations or on TV broadcasts) tell listeners that God wants them to become very wealthy, and that if they just give “a seed” to said pastors’ ministries, they’ll reap great financial returns and be #blessed. White’s e-store features a sermon called “Why God Wants You Wealthy.” Of course, Donald Trump wants people to be rich as well, which is why White once offered her viewers—for a ministry contribution of $25—a copy of Trump’s book Why We Want You to Be Rich. Everyone wants you to be rich! Praise the Lord!

White’s website has…interesting deals. One (your correspondent’s personal favorite) is called the “2015 Atonement Package.”...

Aug 26, 2015: Donald Trump Plans Meeting With Evangelicals

“.......The invitation states Mr. Trump aims to meet with “selected Christian leaders and ministry professionals.” Ms. Withum referred questions about the invitation to Mr. Trump’s aides.

Michael Cohen, the executive vice president of the Trump Organization, said the New York developer will meet with “a significant number of pastors from across the country that will be coming to meet with Mr. Trump for a prayer service.”

Mr. Cohen said the gathering is being organized not by the Trump campaign or the Trump Organization, which oversees Mr. Trump’s business interests. Instead he said “the evangelical community,” led by Paula White, a Florida evangelical preacher with a daily television show on The Word Network, was arranging the session.”..........

” He was an OK doctor,” Trump said.”

Serious? Just an OK doctor? How many OK doctors can separate siamese twins connected by the brain?

You know doggone well it was Carson who questioned Trump’s faith.
Of course you do, how silly of me.

Then Carson touted his own humility....
....that’s not how humility works

I’ll stack Carson’s humility up against Trump’s any day of the week.

If I were Trump I would not be attacking Carson if I really wanted to win. He has large numbers of admirers, and as a running mate he’d make you virtually unbeatable.

Agreed. Beside, by what criteria is Trump trying to assess whether or not someone is a good or great doctor. I can tell you unequivocally that the criteria of fame, treating celebrities, or being listed in some magazine’s ‘top doctor’ list, are not reflective of who is and who is not a great doctor.

Trump and Carson would do well to not attack each other, IMHO.

“...to dream the impossible dream...”

People will cry “foul” & Trump will tick up a couple or more points.

Trump is going to be the GOP nominee.

So now Trump is an example of humility?

Carson was the youngest man ever to head up a department at Johns Hopkins—pediatric neurosurgery.

He headed a team of 70 to perform the first ever separation of twins joined at the head.

Yep. REAL boneheaded move by Trump. Calling Carson an “OK doctor” is like calling Babe Ruth a slightly above average batter.

You’d think so but take a look. Trump just polled at 32% approval.

Trump thinks he’s bigger than God; his attack on Carson for “religiosity” should tell us what he really thinks about devout people. His attack on Carson as a doctor shows how little he knows about doctors. This is possibly his most slimy attack yet. Be prepared to see him walk it back while claiming he was misquoted, loves Doctor Carson, and was attacked first.

“How many OK doctors can separate siamese twins connected by the brain”

A crew of about 20, with Carson being one of them.
