Huge Russian military planes land in Syria

Washington (AFP) - At least three Russian military transport planes have landed in Syria in recent days, US officials said Tuesday, as Washington worries about the sort of assistance Moscow is providing to Damascus.

The aircraft have landed at the airport in Latakia on Syria's Mediterranean coast over the past several days, US officials told AFP on condition of anonymity.

Two of the aircraft were giant Antonov-124 Condor planes and a third was a passenger flight, one of the officials said.

The Russians have installed modular housing units -- enough for "hundreds" of people -- at the airport, as well as portable air traffic control equipment, the official noted.

"All of this seems to be suggesting that Russia is planning to do some sort of forward air-operating hub out of this airfield," the official said.

If the airfield can handle Antonov-124's, Russia can put a little army in Syria pretty quick.

They could do all their refueling in Russia and turn things around fairly fast.

They put about 80,000 men and all their supporting materiel into Afghanistan over about a 10 day period.

ISIS needs to be kept from the Mediterranean Coast. Why Russia likes Iran is unfathomable.

The major powers that will be on the “bad” side of WWIII are all gearing up, getting ready. The defenders are letting in Islamic zealots by the thousands , disarming their military’s and busy shouting down anyone that says otherwise.

The Chinese have naval assets in the Mediterranean and they operate out of Syria.

Good Grief. Animals smell fear and weakness and even I can smell the Kenyan’s stench in NYC.

Is England still worth anything in a fight?

We’ve basically made Israel a non ally, but I would hope that would change once stuff went down.

What’s Australia like these days? Canada?

We are in big trouble.

"The Chinese have naval assets in the Mediterranean and they operate out of Syria."

Source? I'm interested.

I didn't think they could support a group in the Med.

That's a long way from the Yellow Sea.

“The problem is that for the first three years or so no one in the world, except for us, recognized the existence of terrorism in Syria. It was all masqueraded as a new wave of the Arab Spring,” she added.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the Russians let the Chinese use their Syrian port facilities.

Russia needs energy and a warm water port. Iran also hates the west. For Russia it is a deal with the devil.

B0 thought he could knock out Assad like Gaddafi in a couple weeks and install his Mooselimb Brothers. Instead he stepped in it deep.

Russia and Iran will crush ISIS and gain world approval. Then Iran and Turkey can join up to eliminate the Kurds. Turkey and Iran will form the new Ottoman “End Times” Caliphate.
Somewhere along the line Iran will nuke Saudi Arabia.

Russia has always believed in “boots on the ground”.

The US under Obama believes in Birkenstock sandals with a Latte to go, on the ground...

Putin knew that Obama’s RESET meant America's falling down and apologizing for it...

You (the USA) have established yourself as the Western Civilization's defender in exchange of the other's money (since their international trade is done in the U.S. dollars). Much like the Pericles's Athens. So you aren't in position to complain on your allies.

Mccain & obama want to install IS in syria. Its leader may be a turd but satan’s bastard IS is worse than the turd.

Hope that russia crushes assad’s enemies. For once Putin’s foreign entanglements are the right entanglements to be in.

What allies does Russia have to complain about? Syria? Belarus? Kazakhstan?
