democrats are celebrating an upset from Tuesday night.
For the first time ever, democrats hold a seat for House District 85, which includes part of The Village, Nichols Hills, and Quail Creek.
Cyndi Munson beat republican challenger Chip Carter with 54% of the vote even though Carter raised nearly twice as much money.
Munson is a first generation college student with a Political Science degree, and recently worked as a community programs manager with the Girl Scouts of Oklahoma.
Her seat was previously held by David Bank, who passed away in April. His wife, Odelia, and current Governor Mary Fallin were also previous house members for that district.
Munson ran on an education platform, and says she also supports her predecessors commitment to tax credit reform.

She is a demonrat so she is lying. She is a F**ot F***ing, Baby killing, Islamic Jihad supporting, Anti Christian Democrat. You cannot separate locals from Satan’s Prom Queen, the Obamanation of Desolation or John Fraud Kerry (Who served in Vietnam)
The voters in Oklahoma should be ashamed of themselves
“...college student with a Political Science degree, and recently worked as a community programs manager with the Girl Scouts of Oklahoma.”
Seems on par with Barry’s experience.
She looks like a toddler.
I have a dear friend, who just left Oklahoma, warn me about the leftward tilt in that state. Didn’t quite believe her. I guess she is right.
....sounds like the “test run” for voter fraud at the state level is working for the Demon Rats.
They spelled his name wrong it David Dank not Bank.
Leftward tilt ? Not a single county in OK voted for Zero. This was a low turnout election in a district where the same Dem candidate had previously performed decently against the GOP incumbent (mid 40s%) 10 months ago. I know nothing about the GOP candidate that ran this time, only that he must’ve been pretty poor to have blown it.
This lady will have a very difficult time holding this seat again next year in a Presidential race in a GOP district.
But better than an establishment Republican it seems.
Well, she is a bit of a pessimist. Hopefully, this is just a fluke.
and recently worked as a community programs manager with the Girl Scouts of Oklahoma.
I guess the poor people of this district are not well-informed about the Girl Scouts. The membership form and some of their recommended ecumenical services (pure blasphemy) that are posted on the net should be enough to yank their daughters (and now sons)out of the scouts.
One other thought. This was a very, very contentious Republican primary. The voting numbers would suggest that not all of the hatchets were buried.
2,700 + people voted in the republican primary. Only 2,300 voted in the this special election
Maybe, just maybe, people stayed home so they are not complicit in the congressional surrender. I feel disgusted voting for the GOP and one day I won’t. I already stopped giving money to the surrender monkeys
Why is this even a story here?
We’re talking about the Oklahoma State House of Representatives, not a federal office.
Oklahoma’s House has 101 members. According to Wikipedia, 72 of those members are Republican, 29 are Democrats. In Oklahoma’ Senate, 40 of the 48 members are Republican, 8 are Democrats.
The balance of power has not shifted. Republican are firmly in control.
Used toilet paper is worth more.
