Proposed Mosque In Detroit Suburb Draws Sharp Opposition
September 8, 2015 by Steve Friess STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. — The nation’s largest concentration of Iraqi Christians, many driven from their homeland by persecution at the hands of Muslim groups, is mounting an intensive campaign to block a proposed mosque in Sterling Heights, Michigan — sometimes by deploying public anti-Islam invective unusual in its bluntness even in this post-9/11 era.
The 20,500-square-foot mosque, to be built on four acres by the American Islamic Community Center (AICC), is to stand 60 feet tall along a major thoroughfare in a middle-class neighborhood if the Sterling Heights Planning Commission approves the plan at its meeting this Thursday. Opponents have dubbed it a “mega-mosque,” while Muslim leaders say it is of average size for houses of worship, including some nearby churches.
American leaders of the Chaldeans, an ancient Christian sect also known historically as ethnic Assyrians and originating from Iraq, have insisted in recent days that their opposition is based on concerns about traffic and property values, not religious enmity.
Yet a parade of speakers at a four-hour Sterling Heights City Council meeting on Aug. 13 offered vicious accusations that the group behind the mosque planned to use it to plot terrorist attacks and store weaponry, and attacked women who wear headscarves as scary to children. More of that sort of ire is being spewed on popular Chaldean group pages on Facebook and in signage and comments to local reporters at recent street-side protests near the proposed mosque site.
“This mosque is going to bring people like this. I do not want to be near people like this,” one resident, Saad Antoun, said at the City Council meeting as he held up a photo of women in burkas. “This is not humanity. …..

There should be no more mosques in the US until churches are welcome in the Middle East.
Detroit is full of vacant blocks and blocks of vacant building that need bulldozing. Why did the Muslims pick a block in the middle of Christians who fled Iraq due to Muslim persecution? It seems to me that this is the Muslim template as to how the rest of America will be treated once the Muslim population growth reaches the 50+% or a Muslim enemy state conquers us. Submit, convert or die.

Why have mosques in the USA at all? It’ll just be another safe house for muzzie terrorists.
Maybe the Muslim in the White Hut will issue an executive order to have the mosque built, and imprison anyone who disagrees with him.
The parcel is oddball, shaped like a pork chop. That's why it's never been developed, despite the fact that the main crossroads is covered with strip malls, drug stores, fast food, and lots of small Chaldean stores.
It's also one of Michigan's worst locations for fender-benders. Probably because it's the most densely-packed commercial area in Sterling Heights on the intersection of two medium-sized, but heavily-traveled, roads. And parking already sucks around there right now. I believe the current plans have about seven parking places on mosque property. The other 50-60 cars there for services will park in residential neighborhoods.
The cherry on top is that the property abuts a large Chaldean Catholic church, social hall, and catering company. The ringing of bells before Sunday Mass is tolerated, but not exactly welcomed. The minaret of the mosque must, by islamic law, be taller than any church steeple, so they can get a really bitchin' reverb for a mile around for the 5AM call to prayer.
Try opening a Rib Shack in Dearborn or Dearborn Heights to see a scared city government pour cold water on the project, and come up with lots of reasons to deny it (along with free speech in general).
This is basically as good an idea as opening a Pork Palace in Mecca, but with more congestion.
Actually, Detroit (8 Mile Rd) is within 6 miles of Sterling Hts. and Warren at their southern boundaries in Macomb County. Not that it isn’t close enough!
Someone needs to contaminate the property ASAP with a couple dead pigs.
On the other hand more Muslims mean more welfare. With too many people on the rolls they might have to cut the number of dollars per person and then some of the locals might actually have to go get a job.
So tell the M 13 gang members the Muslims will be taking their welfare and stopping their drug trade.
