To make sure the kid also had El Salvadorian citizenship.
I am a dual Israel/USA citizen and we’ve traveled back to Israel for all our kids’ births that would have been outside Israel.

I used to joke about being switched at birth at the High Plains hospital where I was born.
Mom then said it was impossible because I stood out like a little white faced calf amongst all those brown new born babies.

When I was expecting my first child, there was a lot of media reports about switching babies. I was so fearful that after he was handed to me.. I drew a dot on his foot with a black sharpie. No lie... I’d like to blame the Percoset but that’s what I did. (either way... he was the only white male born that night and had a full head of blonde hair.. no mistaking him at all) :)

Israel I can understand. But a lawless place is best avoided.

That’s smart. You could have put your initials as well. As a father, I’m sorry to say that it was always difficult for me to pick my children out in the nursery. All those chubby faces looked the same to me!

I don’t know about that. I assumed the father was a US citizen.

That’s what I wondered. I take it the husband is citizen and wife is legal so no need to anchor.

Details, man, details. That was a fast about face for the doctor. Did they hire someone with a new set of vise grips or what? I don’t know if I’d want the dark skinned child to return to parents who didn’t want him so it would be best to settle it with a legal adoption. Bet the wife won’t be birthing their next kid in that cesspool but in England.

If you look at the 2 pictures that I posted in #13 it doesn't look like it went fast. It looks like that several month have past.
How do you know the parents of the dark skinned baby were not in despair when they received the wrong baby? This is what gets me with these speculations and that includes that I am a he.
I have always been a she and nothing is going to change that.:)

after 1/2 hour they brought the correct baby with the apology, do not try to nurse her as the other mother already did. I'd be really upset if someone else had nursed my baby. There is no telling what diseases that person might have.
You have to wonder how the other mother did not notice she was nursing the wrong baby.
The only other baby in the hospital when I had my second son was a girl. I think a mix-up in that case would have been obvious.

They brought me the wrong baby about 2 hours after my second daughter was born. My grand children were born in SOCal and the mother or baby never left the room period until we took both of them home. That was 20 years ago.

I was referring to the 4 hours after the doctor was set free to the return of the baby.

This was 1977. The other mother had been under anesthesia for delivery and this was her first meeting with “her” new baby. She counted my babies toes. I had all my babies by Lamaze so had all ready seen and held my Jennifer. I was very upset as I had to argue with the nurse for quiet some time that this was not my baby. She finally took the sweet, tiny redhead, with the comment to the other nurse, “this woman refuses to take care of her baby!” It was the other nurse who brought my actual baby in latter and I never saw the unbelieving, rude nurse again. I never even thought about disease, but did insisted on rooming in with my baby for fear she would get lost again.(most babies were kept in the nursery) This was in Fremont, Nebraska.
