Hungary's prime minister says he wants to speed up construction of a fence meant to stop migrants on the southern border with Serbia - project which has missed two previous deadlines.
Viktor Orban was quoted Tuesday's edition of the pro-government Magyar Idok (Hungarian Times) daily newspaper as saying that he was persuaded of the need for more workers on the project after an unannounced inspection of the barrier on Monday with his chief of staff, Janos Lazar.
Hungary initially said that a 4-meter (13-feet) high fence would be built on the 174-kilometer (109-mile) border with Serbia by the end of November, but in July Orban called for it to be completed by Aug. 31.
A government statement implied that Defense Minister Csaba Hende resigned Monday because of the unsatisfactory pace of construction by the military.

They’re not waiting for others to deal with a looming Islamic human tidal wave.

I’ve seen an extensive amount of video of the Hungarian fence...it’s a marginal two-star effort if you ask me. A $30 set of wire-cutters and you can cut your way through. I would imagine a thousand people each night could easily make their way through it and ten repair guys will fix it daily for the next evening’s ‘runners’. It might slow folks down if they aren’t carrying wire-cutters, but that’s the only slow-down I see.
Why not contract it to Trump?
He wants to build a wall here, so let’s see an example of his proposed handiwork?
I've known quite a few and actually find them to be a brilliant and resilient people.
If the Germans want all these Muslim “refugees,” why don’t they fly them to Germany from Belgrade, or Istanbul, instead of forcing them to get to Germany by train or other means?
I haven’t met a stupid Hungarian either, but Aaron Harang did allow 5 earned runs yesterday in his loss to the Braves. On the other hand, he is paid $5 million a year.
Fence isn’t enough. it has to manned with guards not afraid to shoot to kill, if necessary.
Maybe they should bring back Al Hrabosky, "The Mad Hungarian."
