Good comment.
The only conclusion I can come up with is that Religion and government do not mix.

I wonder if Kim has any problems when she has to do paperwork which are filled with lies. Does her Christianity kick in?

States must defend their people from this illegitimate diktat

Unfortunately Kentucky's panty waste governor couldn't wait a day before he issued his own diktat directing the clerks to comply with a non existent law. That is why Kim Davis sits in jail tonight.

If she knew there was inaccurate information but accepted the form she would be violating the law.

Given who she is proving herself to be, I have no doubt she would reject being a party to deception. If she knows there’s a lie, I’d bet she would not cooperate with it. If she doesn’t know there’s a lie, then what can she do about that? Did you have some specific sort of lie in mind?

BTW, religion and government mix just fine if nobody gets too big for their britches. Render unto Caesar what is Caesar’s, and unto God what is God’s. Sometime Caesar gets mixed up, and we have to remind him which one is which.

Peace,

SR

"Perhaps you think that this radical new definition is no problem and people should just follow orders?"

So what is Kim's objective? To change that definition or change the law that requires having her name prestamped? If she's only fighting for her name not being on the form, that doesn't help Christians anywhere. If she's sitting in jail to change the new definition of marriage, then I'm fine with that.

On a plane the other day a passenger could not get a beer served to them because the flight attendant was muslim and alcohol was against her religion.

Where does it end? If your convictions prevent you from doing your job, find another job.

She has no right to stop the deputy clerks from signing marriage licenses because of HER belief. The deputy clerks have the right to THEIR OWN beliefs and whether they want to do the job they were hired for.

Flight attendants serve alcohol. The attendant knew this and had no problem with it until she became moslem.

Marriage has always been between opposite genders. Davis knew this. Unexpectedly an illegal decree was issued which claimed that marriage was no long between opposite genders. Now Davis is being made to violate her religion in order to accommodate a radical new definition illegally imposed.

Here’s something to ponder. Kim is a Christian and acts upon her beliefs. What if next she decides not to allow Buddhists or Muslims to marry?

What if a guy shows up with two women wanting a marriage license? What if a guy shows up with a St Bernard.

There is no law against it.

Unexpectedly an illegal decree

An illegal decree? How do you figure?

She works for the government.

This is where you have it wrong and where big government gets it wrong.

She works for the people who elected her.

The Citizens pay her.

However, there are queers coming from outside her district trying to make her look bad. Looking for their 10 minutes of fame.

Kentucky has laws on the books defining marriage as between a man and a woman.

SCOTUS cannot pass laws only interpret so their decree recently on marriage is illegal because there is no Federal law on the books. SCOTUS cannot tell the States what they can or cannot do in this matter.

Until Kentucky convenes a session of lawmakers and either shoots down SCOTUS’s ruling or changes it’s law and accepts the ruling she has to follow Kentucky law.

The Federal Judge that has had her arrested has done so in violation of Kentucky law and is following Federal laws. It is the duty of the Kentucky Governor to stand up for Kim Davis in this matter but he has not done so.

There has been many conversations about this by scholars and lawyers. I am neither but I think I summed it up correctly.

She is the clerk and legally signs the licenses. The deputies are not in step with law. She should not play footsies. She is the clerk and she signs the certificates. Gay marriage is illegal in KY. She does not need accommodation she needs to stand firm and issue heterosexual license since that is legal and her duty as elected. If she keeps up this religious accommodation nonsense she will accomplish nothing and in jail for nothing.

I'm having a hard time finding any compassion for her. She works for the government.

The "Government" changed the rules. Blame them. Really it wasn't even the "government". It was a collection of five Kooks on the Supreme court, three of which would not even be there but for Media manipulation of the election process.

The rest of the "government" is just a bunch of "Process Nazis" insisting on Obedience to a clearly incorrect interpretation of law.

There is no moral compulsion to obey this new diktat. In fact, there is great moral compulsion to deliberately disobey this diktat.

Had German officials refused to obey laws requiring them to seize the property of the Jews, and to process them for Internment camps, etc. History would have turned out very different.

It was only after the war when we were trying these people for crimes against humanity that we made certain everyone knew that "Just following orders" is not an acceptable excuse when you are ordered to do something immoral.

I do not understand you people. Asinine and Immoral laws need to be deliberately disobeyed. Forcing people to comply with sick, twisted, and insane laws is what the Nazis did.

And why on earth would you compare objections to "fecal marriage" to serving alcohol?

As I see it, there are two issues at play here.
Christianity and KY marriage law or lack of it. Each should be dealt with separately.

There is an option for her. She can step down from being the clerk and become a deputy clerk. She won’t do this because she would lose prestige and a fine salary. This is where her Christianity would come into play. Will she choose money over Christ? Does she love money more than Christ?

Since she has a problem being a clerk under the new law, there should be a new election. Let the people decide if they want a clerk who supports gay marriage or not. The people voted for her before the new law, she accepted the job before the new law. Let the people decide what they want.

The legality of the KY marriage law is a different matter.

"She works for the people who elected her. The Citizens pay her."

Then there should be a special election. Let the people decide whether they want a clerk who signs twisted marriage licenses or not.

Surely this would get the ball rolling in the upper government branch.
