When I went to high school in Olympia in the late sixties there were no black people in Olympia. We had some Asians who worked in the mushroom farms and struggled to learn to read English as a second language. My mother taught some of those classes and people really did want to integrate.
Then they built the lefty Evergreen college and thus things changed quite a lot.
