About 200 supporters of a Kentucky county clerk jailed for refusing to hand out marriage licenses to gay couples rallied and prayed Saturday as she faced a third day behind bars.

I like what this one says about a man holding an upside down flag.

Did they burn the jail down yet?..
good glad to hear it. and i don’t think it’ll hurt to
call the judge’s office again on monday. tell him to free Kim, our Sister in Christ. got this number from another FReeper two days ago:
Call Judge Bunning 859-392-7907.
Getting prepped for the drive to Grayson on Monday so I can be there for Huckabee’s rally on Tuesday..
The ultimate goal is to bar Christians from public office.
After all, we are talking about the party that booed the public mention of God.
How bout the Houston mayor to tried to regulate the sunday sermons?
It occurred to me that Kim Davis is going to make Christians and Jews, who support homosexual mirage, aware that G-d is adamantly against it. I tried to look up what the Talmud said about why G-d is so against homosexuality, but I couldn’t find anything. Those rabbis had to have discussed it, but I assume Hashem said stay away from it for our benefit.
Wish I could go.
They actually denied God 3 times that night. I seem to recall something...
There should be folks around the jail all the time and send her lots of mail care of the jail. Heck, just send the jail mail with a note “God Bless You, Free Kim Davis”.
Maybe Judge Bunning should get those notes, too.
Back in the early 1980’s Cass County, Nebraska authorities were jailing a group of fathers who sent their children to a Christian school that did not have ‘licensed teachers’.
The religious broadcaster I worked for then broadcast reports on the situation and urged mail be sent to the jail.
The ‘mail’ was empty gallon milk containers. You could send em through the mail at the time and I did it down at the local post office plunking down a couple bucks and sending it.
It’s going to be difficult for me but I think it’s necessary..
The last freep I was on was at the Clinton library and massage parlor...quite some time ago..
See my post. Polite and direct notes should be sent snail mail.
We have a long history of conscientious objection in this country that doesn’t include jail.
Yes, and according to what I have read, it goes back to the Old Testament.
So it’s a well established practice.
took a look. didn’t find any address.
just send c/o rowen co courthouse?
A juror can refuse to convict for any reason or no reason.
Our local hanging judge took the unusual step of setting aside a jury conviction of an accused rapist this spring because he said his conscience told him that the man wasn’t guilty.
She is jailed in a different county and the federal judge is in Covington, KY across from Cinncinati.
Both the jail in the county other than Rowan and the federal judge would be good places to send “God Bless You, Free Kim Davis” notes.
thx.
Kentucky legislature needs to define the penalty, maybe a fine imposed on rejectionist clerks = the cost of gas for a couple to drive to the nearest county where a willing clerk can be found. The imposition on the seeking gay couple is not onerous to do that, whereas Bunning’s approach is severe to the point of being cruel and unusual. If the voters of a county want a different administration of the law, they can either recall the elected clerk or vote him/ her out at the next election. That’s the way Roberts , writing for the majority, saw as the way to repeal Obamacare when it was found constitutional as a tax.
