EXCLUSIVE: New York 2015 - FOUR THOUSAND sleeping on the streets, 80 homeless encampments in the city and beggars making $75 a day as arrests for panhandling and street drinking plunge

They are sleeping in front of the Empire State building, sprawled in front of the doors of Macy's, and panhandling outside Grand Central.

New York is in the grip of a homeless epidemic so bad that it has raised fears of the city slipping back into the disorder of the 1970s and 1980s.

The city's police chief this week said that as many as 4,000 people are now sleeping rough in the city, in a crisis which even the city's ultra-liberal mayor has finally acknowledged after months of denials.

Police officers have identified 80 separate homeless encampments in the city, 20 of which are so entrenched that they have their own furniture, while its former mayor Rudolph Giuliani has spoken scathingly of how his successor is failing to keep order.

DeBlasio talks the talk, but is completely detached from reality. He is NYC’s Obama; an empty suit used by powerful people behind the scenes.

Which states have the highest levels of homelessness? - The Washington Post, August 8, 2014

. . . States with high and low homeless rates are all over the country. The highest rates of homelessness among states are in Hawaii (465 per 100,000), followed by New York (399) and California (367).

The lowest homeless counts per capita come in Mississippi (81 per 100,000), Indiana (94) and Kansas (94). . . .

“Ah, but won’t global warming have a big effect ? “

Yes, all the “climate models” predicted massive increases in homelessness because the warming climate makes it more pleasant for them to sleep outdoors year round.

New Yorkers voted for this.

They are getting what they deserve and deserving what they get.

Let them live in the nest they have fouled.

More than that in streets of San Fransicko. And it’s only a tenth the size of NYC

The NY counts do seem oddly low for the population of NY. In SF, the count is about 3500 on the streets (others are in shelters or jail).

They may be in shelters at night but they’re out begging and acousting innocent pedestrians, drinking, shooting up drugs, plus Pizzing and krapping on the streets — all day.
