It would be easy, but disappointing if we all conveniently ignored the numbers of Syrian refugees who are Christian. Before the civil war, 10% of Syrians were Christian, and it had the reputation of being the most tolerant of Arab states towards its religious minorities. It would be reasonable to assume, in the absence of verifiable figures, that the proportion of Christians among those fleeing ISIL is higher than this. Certainly not the majority, but a not inconsiderable minority.

Even under Saddam, Christians were tolerated in Iraq.
