More than 300,000 dead veterans are still listed in VA computers as actively trying to sign up for health care part of a massive 860,000-claim backlog that hasnt been cleared up, according to an audit Wednesday that portrayed a department struggling with the basics of tracking benefits.
Veterans Affairs workers appear to have deleted another 10,000 benefit applications without ever processing them, and 13 percent on the rolls have been awaiting a decision for more than five years, the departments inspector general said.
Many of those have died, but the VA never went back to delete their names, leaving a system so messy that the department cant properly triage cases and figure out who needs help the most urgently, investigators said.
Overstated pending enrollment records create unnecessary difficulty and confusion in identifying and assisting veterans with the most urgent need for health care enrollment, the investigators said in the report. Additionally, outreach efforts to obtain additional information for enrollment eligibility may have been frustrating and upsetting to family members of deceased veterans.

And they are voting and getting EBT cards.
“Many of those have died, but the VA never went back to delete their names, leaving a system so messy that the department cant properly triage cases and figure out who needs help the most urgently, investigators said.”
“Many of those have died...” - died waiting for healthcare.
“...but the VA never went back to delete their names,...” - To delete their names, probably requires them to list cause of death, which would most likely expose that they did waiting for healthcare.
The Culture of Death, which is innate in the atheistic socialist ideas of government provided healthcare, is present in all entities the government seizes control over...from womb to tomb, if one is fortunate enough to even warrant a tomb rather than a trash bag.
Because if they terminate you in error, which they have done to Vets who are alive it’s not so easy to reactivate you again in their system!
Dangit, ya beat me to it!
Who needs death panels when we have the VA?
Whenever some liberal tells me single payer is the bestest, I point out the VA abomination.
No.
They are there for the VA funding requests at budget time. The live vets get lousy service, but tens of thousands of government bureaucrats get fat paychecks every month, and that is the most important consideration.
People in the medical profession don't get paid to give up.
Gotta keep those government unions goin’ strong!
Boy was he surprised. And got sorta vocal about the delays and BS. LOL!
I'm glad he got to see it at least one time, in all it's ugly glory.
It ain't what most civilians think it is.

The VA should never have been founded. It was our first socialist health care system. There should never have been VA hospitals or any other government-run institutions “providing” health care for veterans.
Veterans should have been given a monthly check with which to buy health insurance in the free market. The entire VA should be abolished, and veterans given a check instead.
WELCOME to Obammie care!!!!!!

More than 300,000 dead vets still on VAs active health care enrollment list
I’m guessing a drop in the bucket when compared with SSA.
If these Vets died for the denial of health care, which is their right after service, that would be called mass murder by our Federal government. The Marxists have already performed their first wave of mass murder.
POL POT lives! In Washington....
With all the problems we had computerizing Obamacare, VA records and many other programs, government computer operators are extremely INCOMPETENT.
No American business would put up with this level of performance. However, once on the government payroll, you have a job for life.
Perhaps we should be able to amend the Spoils acts to include a requirement to maintain the current level required or be terminated from the job.
