Paring His Bucket List, Obama Relishes Hiking at an Alaskan Glacier (all by himself)
NY Times ^ | September 1, 2015 | Julie Hirschfeld Davis

Posted on 09/02/2015 2:48:34 PM PDT by Zakeet

President Obama hiked alone up a gravel path toward Exit Glacier, gazing at a mass of flowing ice as it melted into the plain below.

“How’s this?” he marveled as he surveyed the terrain on a cloudless day. “Beats being in the office.”

Mr. Obama is in legacy-building mode here in Alaska, where he has come to talk about the rapidly unfolding effects of climate change and the urgent need to address it. He saw the consequences of global warming during his trek to the glacier, which has receded more than a mile over the past 200 years because of rising temperatures.

“This is as good a signpost of what we’re dealing with when it comes to climate change as just about anything,” Mr. Obama said.

The brave Wee Wee is building his legacy ... he hiked up a glacier all by himself ... he saw the log cabin where he was raised as a little boy ... he battled global warming with a magic sword ... he killed three grizzlies with his bare hands ... he caught ten salmon in his teeth ... he had a beer with the boys ... and some of you bad dumb Freepers still call him a wimp!

I don’t mean to be mean spirited or anything, BUT:

There are real MEN that do the Iron thing in Alaska, like Palin’s husband did....

So when I read something like this I wonder if maybe obuma walked over a larger than normal ‘ant hill’?????

THE DICHOTOMY OF OBAMA

Campaigned and elected on bringing CHANGE to the man-made world.

But spends his time lecturing us on the need to fight the immense forces of naturally occurring change in the physical world.

Pretty stupid to go off walking by himself over the snow-covered crevasses and fall traps.

Never said he was stupid of course, but, when he disappears into a 120 foot deep crevasse, who’s going to be able to find him?

Who will find the Secret Service who followed him down?

No way would the Secret Service allow him to hike alone in Grizzly Bear Country,

Word for the day would be avalanche. Second word of the day could be mauled. Too bad found neither in the article.

Who heard him say this if he was hiking alone?

Further proof that the NY Times just makes shit up.

And the rapidly melting glacier is POURING so much water into the oceans !

I would say the melting glacier would guarentee a water supply for gardening and growing stuff over the next thousand years.

It is nice that he went to Exit Glacier.

I know the receding rate has been tracked since 1815. It isn’t new and it isn’t receding faster.

The Secret Service are mortals, common peasants who don’t count; therefore, he was alone. Of course those peasants likely had to test the trail first.
