If Russia can isolate its currency from the global economy and be self-sufficient, could it (and other countries that do so) avoid the effects of a global depression?Russia is so far from self-sufficient that the scenario is laughable. They're essentially a colonial economy, exporting natural resources to developed economies. They don't make anything except oil and gas that anyone wants, including their own people.
