A little diversion from the overall condescending theme of this article, but Stevens here plainly says what many so-called free traders and free marketers refuse to admit.
The free movement of labor is a part of the free market and free trade. Many believe that as indicated by their support of high immigration and lax if any enforcement of immigration law. But few will come right out and say they support the free movement of labor.
A free market and free trade on a global scale is suicide for the affluent, advanced nations. And those who do not support the free movement of labor need to stop pretending that they are free marketers and free traders and advocate more sensible trade policies.
You are a 100% correct that free trade and open borders mesh perfectly for the elites....And it is all about the money to be made via both of these policies.
Follow the money! Who profits from open borders and free trade? I have instinctively despised both policies for 25 years but used to be stupid in not realizing that both are money driven.
It says that a movement that is supposed to believe in economic freedom doesn't believe in the essence of economic freedom: to wit, the free movement of goods, services, capital and labor.
Here we have a hard and crystal clear exposition of just what the Globalists want, the effective elimination of borders between nation states.
After all, when we have "the free movement of goods, services, capital and labor" across a border, then, for most practical purposes, the border ceases to exist; it ceases to have purpose or meaning.
