I can see open carry as a deterrent, but it also tips your hand, letting the perp know what he is up against -Concealed, while making you appear vulnerable, gives you the advantage of surprise.

I agree but ultimately it’s a numbers game. In the old west, everyone carried. It served to deter. Today it would serve the same purpose and be effective. But at the moment, the one OC is a standout, not the norm. More should OC.

Here in AZ, my local corner store guy and his wife OC. Everyone knows it. They have never been robbed. Their non carrying evening crew has been robbed several times. Because everyone knows that too.

Personally, I would prefer to not ever appear vulnerable, whether I'm carrying or not. Why would you want to invite trouble?

That being said, there are those who would might covet the weapon you're displaying so prominently - why tempt them?
