That’s all cool and stuff, but that opinion says no Christian can be placed in said position. Salary does not trump free speech, nor conscientious objection on religious grounds. At least before we entered into soviet styled governance and instead of resisting we go along to get along and fold like a deck of cards.

Charles, at 35, explains it to us, on rather good authority.

Read Antonin Scalia's statement about Christian judges in cases involving the death penalty. He makes it very clear that if the death penalty is the law and a Christian judge does not want to be a part of the process of executing someone, then the judge has no business being a judge and must therefore resign.

I suspect a lot of people out there -- even good, principled conservatives -- are operating under the erroneous assumption that they should never be forced to choose between God and Caesar. A lot of folks right here on FreeRepublic treat the modern State as either a deity unto itself or as an instrument of God that must be given deity-like allegiance. They'd do well to learn the lesson that this is absolutely NOT the case.
