Bathrooms are the center of a major debate in Troy after the school districts superintendent announced in a message there will be a gender-neutral bathroom in every school.
2 NEWS observed over the weekend several Troy residents chiming in on Facebook about Hermans message.

However, the main factor is the federal law, Title IX. Often, people think of that when it comes to equality in athletics.
The mandates of the law have expanded since the 70s when it was first enacted; the law was challenged in 2013, specifically on gender identity. The U.S. Department of Education announced last year that the law does protect transgender students.
Discriminating against a student based on his or her gender identity means the district could lose federal funding, a clause that has long been a part of Title IX.
----
Asked if the decision is permanent and if it could be reversed, the Superintendent answered, I dont know I think this is part of federal law so I would contact the people that makes the laws and make these decisions and have that type of dialogue.

Officials are encouraging parents to contact the district if theyd like to discuss this further. You can reach district officials at (937) 332-6710.

I have 3 and 1/2 gender neutral bathrooms in my house. Does that mean I’m “enlightened.”
What this will eventually boil down to is a series of stalls with doors and a common hand washing area.
We have 2-1/2. It’s a way to give each sex a violent aversion to the other.
Gender neutral bathrooms-— still trying to wrap the brain around that glorious new leftist newspeak term.
I think it is about time where schools should stand up and say no and if that mean no Federal fund then all I can say is “so long, Uncle Sam.”
