The recently concluded federal trial over North Carolinas election rules proved one thing beyond a reasonable doubt: The Obama administration and its partisan, big-money, racial-interest-group allies will stop at nothing to win elections. And using the courts to change election rules is a key part of their strategy.
That was clearly evident in the federal courtroom in Winston-Salem. The plaintiffs, including the Justice Department, challenged a number of election reforms implemented in 2013 that were designed to reduce the cost and complexity of running elections and make it harder to commit voter fraud.
The administration pushed a novel legal argument. In its telling, if a change in election rules might statistically affect blacks more than whites, it constitutes illegal discrimination. For example, if 98 percent of whites have a voter ID but only 97.5 percent of blacks have one, then requiring voters to present ID violates federal law. Never mind the fact that getting an ID is free, easy, and open to everyone without regard to race. And never mind if a policy change is in line with the rules of many other states, or if its explicitly sanctioned by federal law. The mere act of changing the law in the wrong direction is discriminatory.
In other words, the Obama administration would turn the Voting Rights Act into a one-way ratchet to help Democrats. The court refused to go along.
None of the reforms had an obvious racial angle.

The corruptocrats (h/t Michelle Malkin) LOVE voter fraud.
They deserve jail time.
It’s now up to North Carolina to stand firm against the Administration perfidy that is bound to follow.
Not sure the Governor is up to it, though.
The smackdown won’t have any meaning until we see that black racist Eric Holder being led away in chains and shackles to spend a good 10 to 20 years in a federal prison.
If voter fraud continues unabated as it has in the past, this Republic is doomed.
Obumbler and the DOJ will simply ignore this just like other court decisions that went against his tyrannical RULE.
If the court had taken this extra step beyond disparate impact, there is no and to the judicial tyranny which might ensue. In the event, the statistics show that if there was any disparate impact it adversely affected white voters, why are the reforms not unconstitutional for that?
The whole idea that disparate impact can be concluded on behalf of one race but not another is racist. The idea advanced by the DOJ that it should be inferred from the nature of one race is flat-out racist.
Anytime an article pops up written by J. Christian Adams and Hans A. von Spakovsky is worth taking the time to read and then ponder.
I figure Obama will pardon all of the criminal thugs he has hired. They have way too much on him.
I will never forget the ballads is Somali bussed in to vote in Ohio. When I watched what happened last presidential election with voter fraud I told myself that it might be more important to spend time working against voter fraud than get out the vote.
Happy Monday FRiend!
You are most likely correct, the upcoming flurry of pardons on January 20, 2017 will make the Clinton filing cabinet of pardon requests look positively moth infested by comparison.
One individual I see off and on posed an interesting question, which was, what is to stop Emperor Barky from issuing an unconditional pardon to everyone in his regime on January 19, 2017 (including Slo Jo Biden), and then RESIGNING, allowing Biden to become “President for a Day”, so that President BIDEN can issue a pardon for Obama?!?
This would evade the constitutional question which arose during the last days of the Nixon Administration, i.e. “can the President pardon himself?”
The above scenario wouldn’t surprise me at all, as it would essentially innoculate the Obama regime from any judicial consequences after the next Administration takes over.
Not unlike the 2000 FL argument that Democrats are dumber and more likely to screw up complicated ballots.
He will have another hissy fit and speechify..
