But this renaming shtick isn’t new, it’s been part of the left-wing playbook for quite a while. I remember driving down to Los Angeles late one night and listening to some Amerindian Red (a Ward Churchill/Russell Means type) foaming at the mouth about changing all the geographical names in America as soon as the righteous Reds came to power. And “foaming” was about right.
A lot of state names come from native words, tribal names.
It’s not like we’ve neglected Indian culture.
