Oregon's Democratic Senator Jeff Merkley on Sunday announced his support for the Iran nuclear deal.

This puts the number of supporters of the deal at 31, just three short of the 34 needed to make sure that if Congress passes a resolution of disapproval against the deal and President Barack Obama vetoes it, the veto cannot be overridden by Congress.

Merkley acknowledged that the deal has "significant shortcomings.”

This is just a show vote.

All the Senators except Cotton voted to empower Obama on the Iran deal by voting for the Corker bill:

This has long been a done deal since the Republicans folded and turned this from a 2/3 vote to affirm to a 2/3 vote to stop.

The only thing interesting is how this goes down. The main question now is will the RATS totally join ranks and filibuster and not even allow the disapproval vote? Given the state of the RATS party I say the chances for this are better than even.

It was over when Obama got UN approval to lift the sanctions and start the Iran trade gravy train.

The 17th amendment at work here , ruined the USA , created the bought and paid for Senator

And democrat Woodrow Wilson was a major culprit.

All U.S. senators voted for the Corker bill 99-1, with only cotton being the only sane one. The corker bill makes Obama’s Iran deal virtually unstoppable:

Yes they did that with the Corker bill

Now this is just a posturing vote so they can say they are against it after voting for it.

There should be a permanent monument inscribed with the Congressional votes on the Iran deal. Let the names that voted yes live on in perpetuity and disgrace.

Yes, they are all slithering, poisonous snakes.

Even now the senate can simply declare that it is going to treat this as a treaty, despite Corker’s bill.

The senate is a co-equal branch of government. What’s Obama going to do if they declare it a treaty, shut down the government? Sue them?

But no, they hide behind Corker’s surrender bill so they can say oh we voted no, but it passed anyway. Same old sh!t from these a**holes.

What are the odds Israel has to do the heavy lifting and take thees facilities out?

Nothing like the attack on Iraq’s reactor, but do they have a choice?

I’m sure Saudis would let them use the air space.

I dont think Egypt or Jordan would mind at all.

And Assad has his hands full.

Problem is, unless I am mistaken, this TREATY says that we have to defend the reactors against any attack from Israel.

So it looks like the senate is just fine with us going to war with our ally in order to protect our enemy.

The Democrats are really going to own this thing if it passes.

So, they are basically siding with Iran - betting on Iran.

What are the chances of this bet working out well over time?

It's all about party loyalty, and a gutless, effete 'opposition' party.

Oregon's Democratic Senator Jeff Merkley on Sunday announced his support for the Iran nuclear deal.

He mentioned his support weeks ago to the Oregonian. I don't know why this is now news. Merkley is and always will be a party lapdog. Worthless. Even in the Oregon legislature, he got grants to his own 'peace foundation'.

What?!?!?! So now we are the enemy of democracies.

I HATE this kenyan.

I’m sure Israel will still strike if it feels it needs to.

It would rip my heart out if we defended Iran.

I would pray for mutiny on the part of the air force.

There is apparently some provision in the deal that provides this.
