Kids are back in classes for many school districts in our area starting Tuesday but their teachers may not be.

Many local school districts are still trying to fill positions.

According to the U.S. Department of Education, there was just one subject in need of teachers in Wisconsin 25 years ago.

For the upcoming 2015-2016 school year, that number has grown to 18 subjects, including math and reading.

According to the Wisconsin Education Career Access Network (WECAN) there are still about 1,000 positions statewide that need to be filled before classes begin, including some in northeast Wisconsin.

I wonder if they’ll use hb1 visas to hire some Indians to fill those positions? Wisconsin, the test state......

number has grown to 18 subjects, including math and reading. .................................. Are those subjects really need in this day and age? Shouldn’t the emphasis be on things like Johnny has two mommies and Joe is now Josephine? Yup, that’s how we prepare kids for the future world.

The problem is that the possible applicants with degrees in Ed. can't read the want ads and any math above onesies and twosies is over their heads. They are good at condoming cucumbers if that is required.

Doesn’t Wis have Common Core. I have a friend in another State that says Common Core makes teaching ridiculously, a big, big headache.

Found an interesting web page, http://dpi.wi.gov/sites/default/files/imce/eis/pdf/schools_at_a_glance.pdf

60,000 teachers, a thousand short is not such a big deal, <2%.
Interesting how they have 35,000 people employed other than teachers.

Elect Scott Walker, and the commies won’t have any state to run to for more big government spending.

;-)

In the 1980s, the Wisconsin legislature and governor cut back and eliminated much of the Department of Educations in Wisconsin because the graduates were going out of state (especially Texas!) to get jobs. Never mind the economy was terrible and there was nothing available in state. The Democrats killed a generation of teachers and this is the result. Blaming Walker is wrong.

It would help GREATLY if the teachers themselves could read and cipher.

;)
